Default Ok You zombie fanatics!

Has anyone ever made a zombie movie that is based more on the true zombie types - that is people who are put into the zombie state through the use of drugs? Many years ago I read a book which I think was called "The Serpant and the Rainbow" which was a scholar's investigation into Voodoo and the making of Zombies. If I remember right - zombies were made by using zombie powder which was some kind of poison like extract from frogs? or fish??? Anyway... has anyone seen a movie along these lines that is differant from the old bite ya - poof - your'e a zombie too now.????

Actually they made The Serpent and The Rainbow into a movie. It starred a very young Bill Pullman. The toxins supposedly used to make zombie powder are poison from the pufferfish(in less than lethal amounts of course) and some kind of powder that has the effect of making you very succeptible to suggestion.

Alot of White Zombie and Rob Zombies music is based after the old pre-Romero version of hypnotized/voodoo zombies. Hell, even the groups name comes from an old B-rated horror film called "White Zombie".

Hold up wait a minute Mr. Postman ..... i noticed you forgot the original Day of the Dead. Forget the Day of the Dead remake , i had hoped it would follow in the footsteps of the Dawn remake .... but nope. It even had Ving Rhames as an Army Officer ... i'd hoped he would've played the twin brother of his " Dawn " character.

I think "I am legend" is also a good movie about "zombies". Not the classical kind of zombies, human-made zombies.

They were vampires in the original story.

The Walking Dead is a literary masterpiece. I own the entire collection so far, and it is one of my favourite titles to read. Some of the twists are so strong, it feels like a punch to the gut.

Has anyone read Marvel Zombies? The first series was the best of the bunch, but the lastest series was pretty kick-ass too. Seeing a zombie Peter Parker lamenting how he had eaten Aunt May and Mary Jane, but that they were also quite tasty is quite interesting!

There was also a Ash vs Marvel Zombies(I picked it up in Trade Paperback). Highly recommended to any fans of Evil Dead and/or Bruce Campbell. It reads exactly like the movies did. Freaking awesome!!

Cool

They were supposed to make The Walking Dead into a movie , and i had hoped for a Marvel Zombies animated dvd ..... but now that Disney owns Marvel that seems unlikely. But now we get Marvel Super Squad a game w/ super deformed Marvel heroes in the magical kingdom!! OH JOY!!! :D

But yeah Marvel Zombies was cool. Maybe they will do movies based on Dead Rising and Left 4 Dead.

They have the entire collection at B&N for $50. I'm gonna get it for my buddy this Christmas since he is a fellow zombieholic.

There's a reason why I did not include it in my list. IMHO, Day of the Dead was the worst of the Romero films. Remember, that's just me speaking; I'm sure other people like it.

Day of the Dead was the bleekest of his films. Fact was the Zombies won and the humans just needed to accept it , and live out the rest of their days in peace. Land of the Dead showed how humanity survived by isolating themselves , but they became worse than the zombies. Day of the Dead suffered from a crappy budget and zombie films were on the way out. Again the " Day " remake sucks and i hope they make a follow-up to the Dawn of the Dead remake.

Yes! The "Day" remake sucked! Zombies that crawl like spiders? C'mon!

I also hope they follow up on the "Dawn" remake. Did they or did they not get eaten? That is the question that has plagued mankind for centuries...
