Many communities across the United States have their own way of celebrating the night before Halloween. Detroit Michigan is somewhat unique in the destructive “Devils Night.” Allegedly a tradition going back to the 1800’s it perhaps reached it’s peak in 1984 when the Tigers won the World Series. I am far too young to remember any of that but have heard there were between 300-500 fires set. By 1992 I was old enough to venture out with friends. We didn’t have anything in mind but guess we thought it was cool or something. Somehow my Dad got wind of it and went out looking for us. He found us down the street, asked us “what do you dumbshits think you’re doing?” made us get in the car, and took us back home. It was a Friday, so we stayed up all night watching MTV, playing videogames, and looking at my friend’s brothers Playboy and Penthouse collection. :innocent:

We lived in the suburbs so the worst that ever happened was our mailbox got blown up once and a rock was thrown through one of our windows scaring my Mom. My Dad and I went out looking for whoever did it but no luck. Indiana has been quite tame by comparison. The worst I’ve ever seen down here are “TP’d” trees…

Happy Halloween!

LOL yeah suburban kids were a little different than inner city kids and bot were different than rural kids. I grew up rural and we always hit the most "sinister graveyards" on Halloween night to get high in.:innocent: One of my great aunt's was even buried in one and it was down a road called China Grove in Central Arkansas if you look it up. It is kind of a triangulation between Alexander, Benton and Sardis town wise.

From "Newsweek" 11/17/2017:

The U.S. Navy was forced to apologize on Wednesday after one of its pilots pulled a stunt involving phallic imagery.

Indeed, it seems a member of the U.S. military drew a penis in the sky. One might say this pilot was a little too cocky.

Officials from Naval Air Station Whidbey Island in Washington state sent a statement to KREM 2 News admitting one of their aircraft was used to create the sexually charged sky art after a local mother reached out to the news station to complain. The mother was reportedly worried the imagery could have a negative impact on her children.

(Maybe he just wanted to be "Top Gun.")

Courtesy of “NASA.gov”:

“New data reveal the interstellar interloper to be a rocky, cigar-shaped object with a somewhat reddish hue. The asteroid, named Oumuamua by its discoverers, is up to one-quarter mile (400 meters) long and highly-elongated—perhaps 10 times as long as it is wide. That aspect ratio is greater than that of any asteroid or comet observed in our solar system to date. Its elongated shape is quite surprising, and unlike asteroids seen in our solar system…

The observations and analyses were funded in part by NASA and appear in the Nov. 20 issue of the journal Nature. They suggest this unusual object had been wandering through the Milky Way, unattached to any star system, for hundreds of millions of years…”

After seeing the picture below, my first thought was of course about the possibility of life on other planets. Who knew “ET” was so well-endowed?

Saw this picture pop up in an ad this morning on MSNBC when I was reading about the Amtrak crash. The caption said something about "Indiana Homeowners born in 1985 or before." Good grief! :( I didn't realize this was the perception of people in their 30's. Ouch!!! No wonder Dove Cameron hasn't texted me in a while. :innocent: I may not leave the house today...:lol::lol:

Man with 19" cock.

According to the article he has been stretching his dick for many years and is not capable of having sex. Doctors also found his "functional" penis is really only 7" the rest is foreskin.

Not sure if I believe any of this or not. Here's the article:

Today (January 25) marks the 40th anniversary of the “Blizzard of 1978.” Starting in the Ohio Valley it intensified and dumped up to 36” (91 cm) of snow on the Central and Eastern parts of the United States. Wind gusts of up to 100 mph (160 km) were recorded and 70 people lost their lives.

Although my family lived in Detroit at the time and I was not yet around, my Dad took an 8mm film of the aftermath. We did not get the snow that other areas got. Still we had drifts that covered our garage. In many areas all the snow that piled up did not melt until June.

This picture is of the I-65 Zionsville exit in Indiana looking North (on the way to Chicago) after the worst had passed through Indiana. I take this exit everyday home from work. Where I live today is about a mile East on W. Stonegate Dr. across from the Elementary School. The sign says “334.” Could it be the same one after all this time? This is the “Oak St.” referenced in many of my stories. Downtown Zionsville is several miles to the East. Forty years ago it looks like nothing was there. Today it is all businesses, condos, and shopping centers. Amazon has a large distribution center just to our North.

My recent post about Françoise (http://forum.transladyboy.com/showpost.php?p=269598&postcount=164) in "Grand Prix" :inlove: got me thinking (besides about her) how much the cars have changed since 1966. The advanced technology inside a modern racing car is something else entirely. Kinda like a several-million dollar computer on wheels that goes over 230 MPH (370.15 km).

"Safety" in the movie appears to be nonexistent. Drivers run into hay bales and trees, spectators line the course without any form of grandstand or barrier and get onto the track, at least one driver is almost decapitated when his car runs under a guardrail, and one of the main characters is killed tragically at the end when his car runs off a high banking and explodes. :(

Here are a couple of Ferrari "concept" cars for 2019. The third picture is Lewis Hamilton winning the United States GP in 2007 at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. I was fortunate to see this race as well as the inaugural event in 2000 won by Michael Schumacher. Bringing F1 here was a good thing IMHO. Indy screwed it up of course and lost out for 2008 and beyond. Now F1 runs a race in Austin, Texas at the Circuit of the Americas. Lewis Hamilton has won six times. :respect:

Here’s one more “fantasy” car. This one from DeviantArt. Looks like someone drove it to downtown Zionsville. Wonder who? :innocent: Allegedly has a top speed of over 600km/h (372.823 MPH).

Watched “Grand Prix” again on YouTube a couple days ago. Still think it’s perhaps the best movie about auto racing. Even with 50 year old technology. Of course the main attraction for me is Françoise.:inlove::inlove::inlove::inlove:

Forgot she leaves her driver at the end for her “american boyfriend.” If only she had been born 40 years later… Or me 40 years earlier… Sigh…

The fastest and most powerful cars in racing, Top Fuel dragsters actually make only a very short run (now at 1000 feet in the US due to a fatal accident several years ago). The standard track had always been ¼ mile (402 meters). Speeds approach 340 MPH (547.177 km) and the race lasts only 3 to 4 seconds. Unlike F1, NASCAR, or IndyCar, it is a flat-out speed contest. If you’ve ever wanted to blow away the car next to you at a stop light, that’s pretty much what it is all about. Evolved from the “slingshot” style cars of the 50’s and 60’s today’s modern dragster is a highly advanced piece of technology. It is also incredibly dangerous mainly due to the unbelievable speeds. To generate this kind of power nitromethane fuel is used. Explosions are common, and engines are required to be covered with a “Kevlar” blanket to keep shrapnel from going into the crowd. Here’s a look at some facts behind Top Fuel drag racing:

One Top Fuel dragster outfitted with a 500 cubic-inch (8.2 liters) Dodge Hemi engine makes more horsepower than the first 4 rows at the Daytona 500.

An NHRA Top Fuel Dragster accelerates faster than any other land vehicle on Earth.

The current speed record is 337.58 MPH (Tony Schumacher, who’s car is pictured below). :respect:

For comparison, you're driving, say, a new Lingenfelter twin-turbo Corvette Z-06. Over a mile up the road, a Top Fuel dragster is staged and ready to "launch" down a quarter-mile strip as you pass. You have the advantage of a flying start. You run the 'Vette hard, through the gears, and cross the starting line passing the dragster at 200 MPH. The light goes green for both of you at that exact moment. The dragster departs and starts after you. You keep your foot to the floor, and within a mere 3 seconds he catches and passes you. He beats you to the finish line, a quarter-mile away from where you just passed him.

(The Labor Day weekend before we moved here from Michigan, our family came down to Indianapolis to look at houses. Me, my dad, and my girlfriend went to the US Nationals. They were less than enthusiastic. Still in high-school, when I expressed an interest in learning how to do this, my dad just said “no” and she said it was “fucking crazy.”)

Someone asked me about mentioning a Bentley dealer in Zionsville in a couple of my stories. Yes there really is. It's a fairly insignificant looking building located next to a Dairy Queen. You wouldn't notice it ordinarily. Other than the sign and the logo, you might think they sold furniture or it maybe was an art gallery--unless you looked inside. It's been owned by the same family for many years. No, I don't own one... I'm more the Ferrari type anyway. ;)

"Retro" wrist watches. The "TV" is from 1983. Actually it's pretty cool. :respect: Also picked up a "fashion tip" from the guy onscreen for the next time I go on a date--wear my collar outside my Leisure Suit and unbutton my shirt down to my navel. It gets worse (http://forum.transladyboy.com/showpost.php?p=268933&postcount=766)... "Born before 1985?" OMG!!!

Fuck, forget the nursing home, just bury me now...:lol::lol:

Was curious to see what the "How Old Do I Look" site said. Not known for accuracy, sometimes it gets it right (like when it said I looked "18") this appears closer to his true age. I would have guessed he's in his 80's.

(Yes, I know it's a sleazy ad on CNN masquerading as a "story" but "Born in 1985" = 33. Hardly the age of the man pictured. $355? Not even a car payment. Wonder what the scam is?)

I know there are many who are sick of seeing or even take offense at those “ads” on CNN. You know, the ones that say “Born Before 1985” then show someone clearly in their 70’s or 80’s. Well I was “born before 1985” as were many of us on here! :(

But enough complaining. Today I finally found an ad that actually got my attention.

I’m all for improving US-Russia relations so I would like to invite the beautiful General :inlove::inlove::inlove: over to my place for a romantic candlelight dinner. We could discuss issues of importance to both our countries... Maybe if it ever warms up here in Indiana we could go for a late night ride on my Harley. Hell I’d even let her “interrogate” me if she wanted. Or maybe she’d rather have me interrogate her… Either way it sounds like fun. :innocent:

(I decided to look her up. Her name is Natalia Poklonskaya. Born in 1980, she is Deputy of the State Duma of Russian Federation and former Prosecutor of the Republic of Crimea. Hence the uniform. Natalia, you need to visit the US--you'd love Zionsville. I'm serious...)

For some reason, today I’ve gotten more of those “Born before 1985” fake ads (you know the ones that show people in their 70’s and 80’s.) So I decided to look up celebrities I admire to see which ones were born in 1985. Quite a few, and none of them looks “old.” Maybe 'cause they're not. I’m a little older so perhaps I really am old after all.

Here’s just a few:

Cristiano Ronaldo :respect:
Gal Gadot :inlove:

(Maybe Dove, Miley, and Hayley could come and visit me? :inlove::inlove::inlove::inlove::inlove:)

CD vs. Vinyl. That was the question back in the 80's. My first CD was "...And Justice For All" by Metallica, late 1989. I had records until then. Somehow my mom and dad let me buy it. I still have my "Sony Walkman" from the 80's that only played cassettes.

CD vs. Vinyl.

The best ever Led Zeppelin song was the Immigrant Song from Led Zeppelin III. The whole house would vibrate if I cranked up the volume. I may still have that album around somewhere.

Here's one version of it, although it's not the best.

The best ever Led Zeppelin song was the Immigrant Song from Led Zeppelin III. The whole house would vibrate if I cranked up the volume. I may still have that album around somewhere.

Here's one version of it, although it's not the best.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y8OtzJtp-EM

Good song. Thanks for the link. I thought it sounded great on my computer. :respect:

I'm sending you a PM with a link to "Kids React to Led Zeppelin." Would post it but they're all only 8-13. The "Thor" movies have something to do with it's popularity right now I'm sure.

Another one of those silly ads. What age has to do with any of this I don’t know. In fact, right below this one is another ad for the same game saying “if you are over 30.” Whatever… to me the presence of these ads (like the "born in 1985" ones featuring 80 year old men) calls into question the integrity of the entire site. You have to wonder if the news they report is any more “accurate” or “reliable”? :(

Now I'll never leave my computer. This is "Mica" the latest "digital assistant" released this week by Magic Leap. :inlove:

What CNN reported:

(CNN Business) The tech world's latest virtual assistant looks so realistic, you might mistake her for an actual human.

Apple has Siri, and Amazon has Alexa. But the lifelikeness of both are dwarfed by Mica: a prototype that Magic Leap, a highly regarded augmented-reality startup, unveiled at its conference Wednesday.

Mica isn't just a voice assistant. She's something you can actually see if you wear the company's augmented-reality glasses, called Magic Leap One. Mica looks and acts like a human — she makes eye contact and offers a warm smile, along with other human-like expressions.

Experts say Mica is a breakthrough in realistic avatars and could have far-reaching implications for society, impacting everything from human connections to education and our health.

You can read the entire article here: https://www.cnn.com/2018/10/12/tech/magic-leap-ai-assistant/index.html

She's really cute. Actually she's gorgeous. Beautiful face. Can you get her with longer hair? Cis or Trans? What about the rest of her?

God, I hope my wife never comes home and finds me using Mica. :(

If I microwave a dinner and eat it in front of my computer or watch a movie on Netflix with Mica, does it count as a "date"?

What if say something "inappropriate" and Mica gets pissed off at me? Will I be "terminated"?

The technology sounds still somewhat "experimental" as one of the researchers mentions "a couple decades." Another says "we will populate the world." Hope I live long enough... :innocent:

(I can see it now. We are driving in my car. Suddenly my phone says "Andy, this is Mica. We're gonna hit the oncoming car head on if you don't get your fucking eyes back on the road!":lol::lol:)

From Wikipedia... :(

Wrap rage, also called package rage, is the common name for heightened levels of anger and frustration resulting from the inability to open packaging, particularly some heat-sealed plastic blister packs and clamshells. People can potentially be injured from attempts at opening difficult packages: use of cutting tools can pose a risk of damage to the contents of the package. Easy-opening systems are available to improve package opening convenience...

A story in the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette about wrap rage was featured on The Colbert Report when host Stephen Colbert tried to use a knife to remove a new calculator from its plastic packaging, to no avail...

In a survey conducted at the Cox School of Business, almost 80 percent of households "expressed anger, frustration or outright rage" with plastic packaging. Consumers also tend to use words such as "hate" and "difficult" when describing these products...

Consumers sometimes use potentially unsafe tools such as razor blades, boxcutters, snips and ice picks in their attempts to open packages. 71% of respondents said they had been injured while trying to open food packaging. A 2009 study conducted by the Institute for Good Medicine found that 17 percent of adults over the age of 21 were either injured at least once or know of someone who was injured while opening a holiday or birthday gift.

Yvonne Craig first played “Batgirl” in 1967 on TV. Word is they are getting ready to make a new “Batgirl” movie. According to Variety: “They’re saying this will be based on her NEW-52 comic which sees her moving to a hip new district of Gotham for young 20 somethings, where she is a Grad-Student and works with other members of the Gotham superhero crowd.”

(I have also heard there is a rumor that she has a romance with one of her professors. :innocent: The picture is really cute. :inlove: Glad to hear she’s “20 something.” I was worried that I was gonna have a hard time explaining this one to the cops… Isn’t her dad the Police Commissioner? Of course if you're going to bring up Batgirl then you have to also mention Catwoman. She has been portrayed by several well known actresses on TV and in movies. Most notably by Julie Newmar in the 1960's TV series.

The "sexual tension" between Batman and Catwoman has always been a major part of the series appeal. While doing "research" I came across a comic where Batman finally proposes to her.

Here are three different portrayals of Catwoman from the comics:

"Holy Autoerotic Asphxiation Batman!" :innocent:

I have used dBase IV. For a DOS based program it was pretty good as I remember. I learned a lot from it. Today we began our semester. One of the classes I'm teaching is "Database Management." We are using Access 2016. The first exercise was creating tables, keys, and relationships. None of the students has any previous experience working with databases--they have only used Excel. I've had most of them in other classes. They picked up on what I showed them today pretty quickly. :respect:

Super Bowl III, January 1969. Today many of us will gather to watch Super Bowl 53 with friends and family (especially in the United States) but if it wasn’t for this game 50 years ago we might not be.

The first two “Super Bowls” (officially called the “AFL/NFL Championship Game” were blowouts with Vince Lombardi’s Green Bay Packers :respect: beating up on the Chiefs and Raiders in 1967 and ’68. Many “experts” did not think the “upstart” AFL was at the same level as the more established NFL.

It was a bold prediction from a young quarterback from Alabama named Joe Namath that would set the stage for a real showdown between his New York Jets and the heavily favored Baltimore Colts. Namath was signed in 1965 for the then record salary of $427,000. According to ESPN, Patrick Mahomes contract for 2019 may top $200 Million.

At a press conference during “media week” someone in the back of the room shouted out “The Colts are going to kick your ass.” Namath responded: “Hey, I got news for you. We’re going to win Sunday, I’ll guarantee you…” The Jets won 16-7 and while many “old school” football fans thought it was a disaster, Pete Rozelle (NFL Commissioner) was quoted as saying it was “the greatest thing to happen to pro football.”

Rozelle must have been right, media interest has never been higher and for this year’s game 30 seconds of advertising will cost $5 million. Known as “Broadway Joe,” Namath was a popular figure with the media and maybe the first “modern superstar” of the NFL. Known for dating popular actresses and models he also “defied convention” and made enemies by wearing his hair long and sporting white shoes while everyone else wore black “high-tops.” In 1985 he was inducted to the Pro Football Hall of Fame.

In 1970, the Kansas City Chiefs would go on to defeat the Minnesota Vikings as the two leagues merged into what we now know as the “AFC and NFC.” The rest is history.

Play action! Namath passing from the pocket. Emerson Boozer (32) gains yardage as Bubba Smith (78) is blocked. Smith (6’7” 285 lbs.) RIP (1945-2011) is one of the greatest defensive linemen in history. If you weren’t around back then, you would most likely know him from the “Police Academy” movies. Only 66, a possible cause of death was the “CTE” suffered during his playing career. Finally, Namath handing off to Matt Snell (41) who scored the game’s only touchdown.

The other photos are of Namath “out and about.” The commercial with Farrah :inlove: must have been filmed in the 70’s when she was on “Charlie's Angels.” The other pictures are talking with reporters before the game and dating Raquel Welch. It’s good to be the Quarterback. ;)

Planning a trip to see my family in Detroit over Spring Break. Doing a little research on “Detroit History.” This was “Milky” the Twin Pines Dairy Clown.

Many, many, years before my time clowns were popular on local Detroit TV. My mom said she was terrified of this one. Don’t blame her. Does he “creep you out” too? He does me. The last pic is from a psychology website. Interesting comparison… :(

I’ve never heard of the band called “The Wackids” before, but by god are they awesome. These guys took a bunch of kids toy instruments and blasted out some awesome music in the form of a cover of the classic Rage Against the Machine tune Killing in the Name. This may well be the best use of annoying kids musical toy instruments in history.

I think the "Spiderman" drum set looks cool and is most appropriate for my skill level. Will have to see if our local Wal-Mart has one.

Back in grade school… We have a substitute teacher today. He is dressed like a clown. “Today, class, we will continue long division” he says with an evil grin. Most of the class is terrified as he writes a problem on the board (http://forum.transladyboy.com/showpost.php?p=273442&postcount=851). “You have one minute.”

Sitting next to me is my best friend ila, both of us snicker at the seemingly simple problem written on the board. In seconds we have solved it. Just to be sure, ila uses his slide rule (http://forum.transladyboy.com/showpost.php?p=273479&postcount=15) to verify the answer. It is correct.

Raising our hands he calls on ila who confidently gives the answer. “That’s what I got too” I say.

“How many of you got what Andy and ila got?” the teacher says mockingly.

Most of the class raise their hands. But, too late, it’s actually a trick—a trap! :(

“No. You are all WRONG” so you all FAIL! HaHaHaHaHaHaHa…”:lol::lol:

(Sorry but that’s what the picture of Milky made me think of. Don’t know what this really was. Probably some kind of magic trick. Have to believe it couldn’t be as easy as it seemed. Wonder what Milky’s “solution” was? After waking up from this bad dream, I fall asleep again. This time Harley Quinn (http://forum.transladyboy.com/showpost.php?p=273454&postcount=852) is my teacher. :inlove: For some reason, in this dream I am grown up and in my 30's. I have been a bad boy so she has kept me after class for detention. We are alone in the classroom. This is what I’d like to have if I ever took up drums again. I did a little research and it’s a 1978 Ludwig “Octa Plus” kit. The shells are stainless steel. Notice they are single headed. Twelve drums, double bass… the excesses of the 70’s and 80’s. Awesome! Why am I thinking of “Rush” and Neil Peart? :respect:

Anyway, it looks great for a set that’s older than me. Wish I looked that good.

Can’t imagine how loud it would be. Also there was no price listed. Sure it’s part of a collection. I would think they might take my “ZR-1” as a trade. Even 40 years ago all that would have cost several thousand USD.

Also no cymbals, stands, pedals, hi-hat, etc. Besides my wife would never let me bring that thing into our house. Even down in our basement you could hear that clear to Chicago. :innocent:

Decided I was right in the first place with the "Spiderman" drumset.

Found one on Amazon right away (Shit, no wonder Bezos is a Zillionaire! :respect:).

Here are the "technical specs":

Reig Spiderman Drum kit 5-Piece

Price: $46.94

International product from outside the United States.

High-quality drum set for children, robust plastic body.

Audio / video motivation: Learning, Entertainment, Musicality.

Suitable for children 3 years and up. (That's me... ;))

Box contents: 5-piece spiderman drum kit consisting of bass drum, cymbals, 2 side drums, 2 drums on separate stands, professional pedals, poles and stool. (Me: "Professional" pedals? I bet they're just like Dave Lombardo from Slayer uses. Speaking of Slayer I could order two sets at that price and have "double bass.")

Failed restaurant chains. Another “fake” news story from CNN because many are still around.

“Burger Chef.” Murder is not good for business. This chain got its start in Indiana. In 1978 a Burger Chef near the Indianapolis Motor Speedway was robbed and the four young people working that night were taken to a rural area and killed “execution style.” Over 40 years later the crime remains unsolved. The building is still there, I used to drive by it on my way downtown. It’s a “fast cash” place or something now. But everyone around here knows the real story… :(

“Big Boy.” These are still around in the Detroit area. Michigan has 69 franchises even today. When I was a little kid my mom would always ask if I wanted to eat there. Fuck no. Looks like an “evil clown” on steroids, he still creeps me out (Crazy eyes and smirk. First thing I think is he's a pedo—imagine you are 5 years old and you know he’s watching you sleep…). Worse than Ronald McDonald IMHO.

“Chi-Chi’s.” Started in 1975, peaked in the late 90’s, early 2000’s. Lot’s of ‘em around Detroit. Sad to see it go as it was the first restaurant I ever took a girl out on a “real date.” Her dad drove us. When I was several years older it was a great place to get cheap margaritas and hang out with friends. The one on 38th street in Indy is still there. It’s a “Golden Corral” now. Bad part of town. Last time I was there we watched the drug deals going down in the parking lot.

Yes. I know. ;) It's from the "Long Long Trailer" (1954). I've seen it before. Probably on TCM. I still don't see how that car could pull all that. Thinking about the movie has given me second thoughts about this whole "endeavor."

Of course all the options we are looking at use Cummins or Detroit diesels. So I am optimistic... Well, sort of. :innocent:

Here's a few scenes from the movie. 1954 I believe was before the US Interstate system. The trek through the mountains is scary. I have driven through the Rockies twice. Interstate 70 today is a lot better than wherever he is in the movie. :(

(Lucille Ball was known as a comedienne but also considered one of the most beautiful women in Hollywood. :inlove: The last picture is of course one option I am considering. My wife not so much.

Prevost makes many of the actual "tour buses" used by bands and celebrities. They are the same dimensions as the "Class A's" we've been considering but are outfitted with bunks and other stuff more appropriate for a band and appear to be taller. The black one pictured has a "margarita machine" for example and sleeps 12. They are upwards of $1,000,000-$2,000,000 USD in some cases. So I don't think we'll be getting one of those... Unless Taylor :inlove: wants to give me hers.)

Couldn't help adding one more. This is a 1997 Prevost on sale for only $99,999 USD. Powered by a Series 60 Detroit. The band was "High Mileage." Looked them up. They're still around. :respect: 80's and 90's rock. Fuck yeah!!! Have to see if they need a drummer... :innocent:

Today from WXYZ 7 in Detroit:

(CNN) -- Coca-Cola is hoping a failed product from the 1980s will help it go viral in 2019.

The company is bringing back a limited number of New Coke cans in honor of the upcoming third season of "Stranger Things," in which the product is featured.

"Stranger Things" creators Ross and Matt Duffers came up with the idea to bring New Coke back as a way to promote the show, which will start streaming on Netflix on July 4. The third season of the show takes place during the summer of 1985 — when Coca-Cola debuted a new recipe for its iconic beverage.

So-called New Coke was a flop: Consumers reacted so poorly to the new drink that Coca-Cola pulled it from shelves after a few months. New Coke was rebranded as Coke II, and sold in some places after 1985. But this is the first time Coca-Cola is bringing back New Coke with that branding.

In my MBA marketing class we each had to research infamous product “failures.” I was assigned “New Coke.” In the early to mid 80’s they were facing major competition from Pepsi. The big thing back then were so called “taste tests.” Research had indicated that consumers preferred a “sweeter” drink like Pepsi. After its debut in 1985, Coca Cola pulled the original version. Consumers reacted and hoarded the “old” coke. Psychologically the idea of it being “gone forever” drove demand for the original formula. Eventually Coca Cola backtracked and re-released the old formula as “Coke Classic.” The “new” formula was sold into the 90’s as “Coke II.” Today what you buy at the store as “Coke” is essentially the original formula.

Many people at the time including some marketing experts thought CocaCola had done this intentionally to revive interest in their product. I came to the conclusion that it had been a “major fuckup” (yes I put that in my paper). CocaCola’s research was faulty and they failed to take into account the psychological aspects of this decision. Either way it cost CocaCola millions. Very risky and expensive marketing strategy if that was the intent. But the controversy did revive interest and increase sales. So… over 30 years later, the debate goes on.

Starting in the early 90's, “New” Coke was re-branded “Coke II.” I have tried “Coke II.” It was “different” somehow. Not bad. But not earth shaking either. Just OK. I usually drank Pepsi as a kid. In high-school and college I used to consume SoBe “Lizard Lightning” regularly. This, caffeine, testosterone, and lots and lots of vitamin supplements worked for football. Now we have many more and better healthier choices available to us. When I do drink Coke it is the so-called “Mexican Coke" made with real sugar.

I am too young to remember this commercial but given what we know today I’m not sure it helped… The first thing I'm thinking is "OMG! He's putting something in her drink." :( In 1985, here’s what Mr. Cosby had to say about New Coke:

"Attention Pepsi drinkers, introducing the new taste of Coca-Cola, the best Coca-Cola ever. That's all I'm going to say, in fact that's all I have to say. No more words."

- Bill Cosby

I'm not sure exactly how Bill Cosby appealed to younger consumers. My favorite commercials however featured “Max Headroom” a character from a TV show of the late 80’s. This guy I DO remember.

The best comment I could find regarding “Coke II” was “Ew! Gross…”

(I realized I kept typing “New Cock.” Subliminal? Or just poor typing? :innocent:)

Of course using celebrities and sports heroes has always been effective at reaching younger consumers. MJ was perhaps my #1 hero growing up. Now if he said "Coke is the Real Thing" then I'd drink it... So I did. :respect:

Same for Gatorade... Every guy my age wanted to "Be Like Mike."

But Pepsi fought dirty. This is Cindy Crawford from her famous 1992 commercial. :inlove::inlove::inlove::inlove::inlove:

(If Hayley Williams advertised anything today you know I'd buy it. :inlove:)

Just one more “quickie” and I’m done. This is an original can from 1985, still unopened, of “New Coke.” Notice the old style “pull tab”?

The final point I made in my graduate marketing paper was that to succeed the product (“New Coke”) had to be unquestionably superior to Pepsi or any other soft drink of the time. It had to be awesome. Like the greatest tasting soft drink ever. Today we would say “GOAT!”

It wasn’t…

(If you are wondering what this is all about, see my two posts above.)

Didn’t think I could surpass the 1978 “OctaPlus” set I posted a few months ago. But…

From a Ludwig catalog. From 1982. I counted 20 drums. Did I miss any? Wonder what this would cost today? More than my “ZR-1”? A year’s salary? I’m sure more than the diesel “dually’s” we are looking at. :(

As you may know from other posts, I grew up listening to Metal in all forms. Double Bass is almost mandatory for that style of music. Been to see some of the biggest names ever. Have never seen anything close to this monster on stage. Not even Neil Peart or Mike Portnoy. :respect: What would you even transport it in? It would need its own truck. God, I’d hate to be the “drum tech.”

Ludwig was the brand of drums I ended up with after my parents “caved” and let me take drum lessons after seeing “Wayne’s World.” I was nine. My dad and I found a beat up old black Ludwig kit that looked like it had been on one tour too many. And it had two bass drums! I think he gave the guy like $200 cash. Too bad I don’t still have it. Sounded like crap and falling apart but we put those “blue” oil heads on it and for about 3 or 4 years I really got into it.

Eventually my mom won out having had to put up with all the noise and pounding coming from our basement. So we (she) got rid of it one day. I was into sports by then, especially football, where I really did show some promise. Also, my parents wanted me to go on to college someday (football or not) and thought music was a “bad influence” and would “hurt my grades” or that I would “do drugs” (probably just the stuff I listened to… :innocent:).

If I’m going to seriously take up drums again. I might as well form a band. Trying to get inspiration for it. Unfortunately most of these album covers haven’t helped any. :(

Are they a “KISS” ripoff? What are they exactly? Don’t wanna know…

No, just No…

Well, I probably could “steal his style.” But why?

I’m sure if Hayley Williams :inlove: comes to our first concert, she’ll want us to open for Paramore.

This sold a million copies because why? Oh that’s right, it didn’t’… Bizarre AF.

The only “real” group here. Very successful in the 50’s and 60’s, The Ventures were best known for the “Theme From Hawaii 5-0.” :respect: This album is from 1965. Considered “Surf Music” by many they were very much ahead of their time. I think they’re cool even today. And the girl is hot. :innocent: Wonder who she is?

She (my wife) still wants a large trailer. Claims it has more living space than a "Class A." I don't think so and we will still need a "5th wheel" to pull it...

Turns out she was right (she usually is... :inlove: :respect:). What she had seen on the Internet was called a "toy hauler." Very large. Some can hold a small car or motorcycle.

Last Friday we went to get it. It's a 2020 "Grand Design Momentum 397TH." About the size of a semi trailer, it does indeed have more living space than a typical "Class A." We will still need a Heavy Duty "dually" with a fifth wheel to pull it however. I am going to work on that as we speak. The dealer recommended nothing smaller than a Ford F350 for this particular trailer.

The "LED's" change color. Green is what it was on when I snapped the picture. I'm just over 6'4" so you get an idea of how tall it is. Don't hit my head in this one. What appeals to me most is the ability to "decouple" from it so we don't have to drive a "tour bus" to go shopping or visit. We already have a place to store it out in the country.

The other pictures are from their website when it was on the dealer's lot.

My wife and I are all ready to head out on vacation. We will be leaving after the July 4th holiday and returning in August. We will be pulling the RV shown a few posts above.

Needed a truck big enough to pull it. Think I found one. Saved money too.

Told my wife "Let's make our first stop Franklin Tennessee and go visit Miley, Hayley, and Taylor." You can see what her reaction was. :(

But I have learned a lot about RV's in just a few short months. Especially how to empty the waste tanks...

OK. One more “retro” post and I’m through. This was the “Visible V8” model kit. As far as I know they are still made (https://www.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=RMXS8883&P=FR&gclid=EAIaIQobChMIkIiR9L-X4wIVFbbACh1REAN4EAQYBCABEgI3gvD_BwE). My dad got me one for my 6th or 7th birthday. We worked on it together in his home office/den in the evening and made good progress. It was fun and I learned a lot from it as well. As we got close to completion, I became “impatient” (Me? Imagine that…) and tried to finish it one day by myself while my dad was at work.

I fucked it up of course. :( Even with my dad’s and uncle’s (of the dark green ’69 Chevelle 396 fame) knowledge and expertise it could not be saved so I was left with only one working cylinder. At least it sort of “looked” like an engine and sat in my room until my mom threw it away while cleaning. :innocent:

OK. One more “retro” post and I’m through. This was the “Visible V8” model kit.

I also had one of those. I found it quite interesting to put together. The only thing that beat it was when I got to tear down a real V8 and later put it together again. As an added bonus I was paid to do it (my job). I will say the real one was much easier to put together than the model.

Grisly bit of US history. As we head home, stopped to see “Ft. Smith” in Arkansas. Once the “Outpost” of the United States and Seat of Justice for the Western territories (many taken from Mexico and Native Americans) not yet admitted as states.

Was walking around checking out the cannons when a white “stage” over in the corner of the grounds caught my eye. First thought was “Did they have bands play back then?”

Upon closer inspection the “stage” was actually large gallows with a “trap door” capable of hanging up to six condemned criminals at a time.

Judge Parker, portrayed in Western novels and films as a "Hanging Judge," also had his courthouse at Ft. Smith. Parker had to govern a territory the size of several “states” and was known for his contributions in rehabilitating offenders, reforming the criminal justice system, and advocating the rights of the Indian nations.

While fictitious, the Clint Eastwood movie “Hang ‘em High” depicts a Federal judge in a similar situation with Clint as his Deputy. Of course the “hanging scene” in the movie is much more prolonged and dramatic. The testing of the gallows with sandbags… :(

Tomorrow we will have to decide if we want to head up through Tennessee and look for where the Paramore video for “Ain’t It Fun” was shot and see where they all gathered in the middle of the road for a group picture. I think I can find both places now. Looking forward to it. Hayley… :inlove:

If we don’t do that then we will head on to Myrtle Beach and drive up the East coast. My wife has never been to NYC so that is something to think about. Also see the old neighborhood where we used to live.

If we successfully complete this trip, we have Chad and Tara of “Changing Lanes” to thank. :respect: Never having done anything like this before we watched their videos on YouTube over and over learning a lot. It was my wife who sold me on the “5th wheel” concept. I was dead set on a “Class A” which would have been like driving a tour bus everywhere. :(

Chad’s advice on selecting a truck big enough, and his weight calculations were very useful to me. He was a good “teacher.” So much that we ended up buying virtually the same rig as them. A “Momentum 397” Toy Hauler and Ford F-350 Diesel “Dually.”

As I said in another post, my wife is actually better driving this than me although I have “chilled out” considerably since we started. We are glad we bought a “Toy Hauler” since we can take my Harley along and of course like Chad, I use the “garage” as an office. Being able to “detach” has been a great advantage visiting relatives and going to see tourist attractions. No scenes like in the “Long Long Trailer” where Desi Arnaz backs into the house or gets stuck in the mud.

Here’s a picture of Chad and Tara’s setup. If you are thinking of getting started, their videos are quite helpful.

And this is where we live in Zionsville. That's my "office" on the right. Should be back home late tonight. My nieces start school on August 7th. :( In Michigan we didn't start school until after Labor Day.

We have a place North of here where we will be storing our RV. Right now we are in Franklin, Tennessee. Going to do some sightseeing and shopping while we get the RV checked out then head back home later. It's been fun...

We made it home early this morning. Otherwise, great way to end our vacation. Everyone was very friendly. :respect:

A "muscle car"? "Party on Wayne! Party on Garth!"

(I think that's an AMC Pacer. Update: Yeah, it is. Maybe a 78 or 79. The "Wayne's World" car was older. There is a Ford from the 70's that's similar. The grille is throwing me off. My birthday present for this year. A Riddell "Speed” helmet for my office. Sorry, I passed on the “Purdue Penis.” My nieces also baked me a “Descendants 3” cake. And gave me this picture. Now, I’d just like to be 18 years younger… Although I’m still not old enough to be “Mal’s Dad.” Older "boyfriend" maybe? :inlove:

(Useless Helmet Update: If you follow “American football” the controversy centers around certain players wanting to continue wearing their older “unapproved” models. The NFL has an “official” list. The model everyone wore for 25 years, including me, going all the way back to “little league” was the Riddell “VSR-4.” Tom Brady (maybe you’ve heard of him? :innocent:) got special permission to wear his during the playoffs and SuperBowl last year. It’s good to be Tom Brady :respect:. You can identify a VSR-4 from the rounded shape and back. Very “old school.” They might as well be “leather” by today’s standards. During the regular season Brady wore a Riddell “Speed Flex” like everyone else. Concussions are a serious issue. There’s no doubt helmets are much better designed nowadays. But they feel different. Which is why some “older” players don’t like them. Antonio Brown (Steelers, now Raiders) has been in the news lately, even threatening to retire if he cannot wear his 12 year old Schutt. My last year in college I wore a Riddell “Revolution” which is now at the very bottom of the approved list. :()

I played football at Purdue. In the "Dream Girls" thread we've been having fun over Purdue's "creepy" mascot. Admittedly, Purdue hasn't exactly had overwhelming success in sports. :( Although it has produced some good players and a few HOF Quarterbacks (Drew Brees anyone?). Purdue calls itself the "cradle of quarterbacks." "Cradle?":lol::lol: I also have a degree in Industrial Management from there. And a Doctorate from, umm... that other school in Indiana. I teach Business Analytics at a small local private university and own a Market Research firm. Maybe I should help them out?

So, what’s in a mascot anyway? I like this “Purdue Pete” much better than the others. At least he looks like he’s been working out. :respect: Make fun of him and he will kick your ass. And the phrase “Boiler Up” actually is “Boiler The Fuck Up.” Yes! Really. But they can’t say that. Well they could… Maybe they should… :innocent: And they should make use of the Train logo more (read the story behind it). Go for it!

Admittedly the ‘Bama logo and mascot is pretty tough to beat. “Crimson Tide.” And a fucking pissed off elephant! Badass! Their motto is "Where legends are made." What do you think? There’s a reason they’re ranked #1 right now. IMHO only Clemson has something to say about that.

The last picture: Clemson’s new $55 million football facility (https://www.businessinsider.com/photos-clemsons-football-facility-2017-10). They are so good they could probably use “Willy Wonka” as a mascot and still kill everybody. Their motto is "All In." :respect:

(Sorry couldn't help adding this... This post may be the only place you will see Purdue next to Alabama and Clemson. My advice to the Boilers? Look at what these other guys do. And keep trying. Plus WE have Neil Fucking Armstrong. Let that sink in. And the guy who used to light barbecues with liquid oxygen. :respect:)

Purdue takes “Pete” very seriously. Maybe too seriously.:lol::lol:

This is from the Fall 2017 “ATEC” Journal of Engineering. In another post I made reference to “3D printed heads.” Well Purdue is an engineering school before anything else and they really do model his heads that way.

You would think they could "reverse engineer" and “3D Print” an entire NCAA National Championship Football team. Let’s see Alabama or Ohio State do that… :respect:

Purdue is known for some weird stuff. Long before I went there, they got a bit of early Internet “fame” as one of their professors posted videos of himself lighting a barbecue at one of the parks in Lafayette using Liquid Oxygen.

Eventually, so the story goes, the Fire Department told him to cut it out. You can still find pictures and video out there but most of it goes back to about 1995 or so and is very poor quality by today’s standards.

Would have been awesome to take my volleyball player friend Blake :inlove: to one of these cookouts except 1) We lived in Detroit then… 2) I was like 12… and 3) She wasn’t born yet... :(

Another "fake ad" from CNN. Who the fuck are they trying to kid? "Old"??? I think she's gorgeous and I like her hairstyle. :inlove: Also the "age thing" says she looks "23." Makes me wonder if their "Coronavirus" reporting is any better. :(

Yeah, to them she's proabably a "Boomer" since that seems to be the current term for anyone "over 18" these days. Of course we know how screwed up they are (and incorrect) whenever they use the term "Millennial" (says me who actually IS a part of "Generation Y" and is in his 30's). Shit...

But their IS possibly a bright side to this. Dove Cameron is 24. So does that make her a "Boomer"? I've always had a thing for older women... :inlove::inlove::inlove::inlove::inlove::inlove:

(We know this "age test" is reliable because it once said I looked "19." Damn! That thing is super-accurate. :respect:)

This was in my e-mail this morning, from PCMag. The title was "Working From Home? Don't View Porn on Your Corporate VPN." Well duh...

Here's the link:

https://www.pcmag.com/opinions/working-from-home-dont-view-porn-on-your-corporate-vpn?utm_source=email&utm_campaign=whatsnewnow&utm_medium=title

All our classes have been moved on-line and any consulting work has died down considerably. Most work I have can be done through email. Besides I own the company. I've been using Cisco Webex and FaceTime to meet with students and clients.

But most of the time all I CAN do is look at porn.

Good advice nonetheless. :respect: I of course have many ways to get online that don't involve my University's VPN so I'm not worried. :innocent: But I wonder how many people really know if they are using their company's VPN or not. And that they can see everything that you do. :(

Haven’t had any fun with “Purdue Pete” in a long time. That is where I got my undergrad (Industrial Management) and played football (I have mixed feelings about my college “career”--it was good in some ways and bad in others…) in that respect I wish we had stayed in Michigan. Really, I was meant to be a "Spartan." :respect:

Of course all the schools in Indiana are either closed or holding classes on-line now. We (the university where I teach) are trying to decide whether or not to end the semester completely on April 6. I’m on our Academic Advisory Board. I voted to close. If it gets worse we will. And it will get worse…. In the United States, some schools have already called everything off.

But will “Pete” get Coronavirus?

This was on the door of the Purdue Student Health Center. Pete is screwed. :(

He’s looking sad. Maybe he already has Coronavirus? Actually, this is from a national ranking of university “sexual health.” Purdue came in 120th.

No wonder they struggle in athletics. This was identified as a “basketball” t-shirt on the website.

Roblox Pete? My nieces would know for sure. BTW they are out of school too. Doing “e-learning.” I am strict about them keeping up with their lessons. You know me as a “nice guy.” Right now they would say otherwise. We did watch “Descendants 3” together. Dove Cameron. :inlove: My nieces think “Hades” (her dad) is a lot older than me. Good answer…

WE don’t ever make the news! Maybe because Purdue is huge?

Yes, I know this is about Ohio and not Indiana. Probably appeared in my search results because of Ohio State and the “Big-10.” Watched the video. She’s really cute. Her name is “Dr. Amy.” :inlove: Too bad there’s a “travel ban.” “Dr. Andy” would love to have Dr. Amy explain “flattening the curve” to him anytime. :innocent:

They are postponing the "Indy 500" until August because of the virus outbreak. Probably 500,000 people coming together for a weekend is not a good idea right now. :( One of the "traditions" of Indianapolis has been the "Snake Pit."

Usually located in the "Turn 1" infield, it has always been rowdy and during the late 1970's became "drug infested" with many arrests. They did away with it for a while. Then brought back a "tamer" version with bands. I have never been to the "Snake Pit." Really!

Some would call this the best part of the race... :innocent:

(Moderators: They enforce "drinking laws" in Indiana very strictly. Alcohol is sold at the track. The minimum age is "21." These pictures are from IndyStar, a legitimate news site. I would assume all the women are "over 21." The Motor Speedway could get in a lot of trouble otherwise.)

My nieces told me that is in fact a "Lego Pete" (above). I wondered at first but have seen them playing "Roblox" with those figures...

Apparently, "Roblox" and "Lego" can be combined. Of course they can! Clever marketing for a 50 year old product. :respect:

The "Lego" I remember from the "80's" looked more like this... Showing my age. Never played with it much. Always was more into sports, computers, girls...

But this "Fall Guy" Lego set does not do Heather Thomas justice. I met the real Heather in the late 80's when I was 6. I've posted about meeting her elsewhere on TLB. She joins Hayley Williams and Taylor Swift as the most beautiful women I have ever seen in real life. They would have been babies then (so would my wife...). Taylor in fact may not have been born yet. Still have the autographed pic she gave me. :inlove::inlove::inlove::inlove::inlove::inlove:

Another “Fake News” story from CNN. Me and my wife. She’s thinking “I wouldn’t mind this quarantining for two weeks so much if Andy could get it up…”

a9127
04-04-2020, 11:51 AM
Looking for things to do during "quarantining." :(

From "WikiHow - 3 Ways to Improve Prostate Health"

Can do this. There's a craft brewery that delivers now...

McDonald's will bring it to your door...

And this is what they had to say about the last one...

Ejaculate often. Although for a long time, researchers believed that frequent ejaculation during sex, masturbation, or even a dream increased men's risk of developing prostate cancer, newer research is suggesting in fact, that frequent ejaculation may actually protect the prostate. Researchers suggest that ejaculation may help to flush out carcinogens in the prostate glands as well as help fluids in the prostate turn over more quickly to reduce cancer risk. In addition, regular ejaculation may also help to reduce psychological tension, which can slow the growth of cancer cells.

But you already knew that. ;)

This “fake ad” showed up on CNN this morning. They must have me pegged as a “Senior Citizen” because I’m “over 30.” Damn those “Boomers”!:lol::lol: No wonder I get all these ads for the AARP.

On the other hand according to the original definition of “Millennial” aka "Generation Y" that’s the generation I actually belong to. But the media’s current definition of millennial seems to be anyone “under 18.” The rest of us are ready for the nursing home. And of course the media constantly blames “millennials” for everything bad these days.

Guess I’m screwed either way. :( But I had to share this “United States” Driver License (grammar anyone?). That’s the first time I’ve ever heard of a “United States” Driver’s License (here in the US they are issued by State… as far as I know. Maybe unless you are a member of the CIA or something?).

The best part is of course the picture. I guess that’s what someone “over 30” looks like—sort of like that man in the “Born Before 1985” ads I’m so fond of. Think I’ll start using it as my profile pic or avatar on this site. Wait ‘till Dove Cameron sees it. :inlove:

(Then again, maybe it’s Santa Claus. “Sit on my lap baby and tell me what you want for Christmas…” :innocent: Update: Thought I'd check mine to see what it actually says. Maybe I was wrong about the "grammar thing" above. It says "Indiana Operator License." Well I'll be damned. And my picture... OMG. "Santa Claus" below looks better. Shit. The good news is I'll never get a "DUI" because the cop will think that's the way I normally look.)

The latest "news" in my inbox this morning... Zoom has been used by many during this coronavirus time to hold conferences. It's quick and easy to set up for one. Some of my colleagues have used it. However, if you let anyone join your meeting, the results can become unpredictable. There have been cases of lectures being interrupted by porn on screen, racist messages, and other things. :(

But apparently, the latest thing is that you can become anybody on Zoom.

So, this is what I decided I will look like to my students and clients.

Of course my class looks like this... :inlove: :innocent:

Today's “ad” was “How To Look Sexy on Instagram” the picture below is what accompanied the ad.

I tried dressing like that for my profile picture but it didn’t work…

But they DID have a list of captions guaranteed to get you laid. (My advice: Use them at your own risk. Bet you’ll be spending the night with your hand…)

“Do you sit in a pile of sugar? cause you got a pretty sweet ass! (Me: Tried this one on my wife. Not only did I end up sleeping in the garage, she also ran over me with our truck…)

They say tongue is the strongest muscle of the body. Wanna fight?

Did you swallow magnets? cause you are attractive!

Kiss me if I’m wrong but Dinosaurs still exist? Right? (Me: Tried this out on Dove Cameron. :inlove: She replied “You should know Andy, you’re old enough…” :()

Nice t-shirt. Can I talk you out of it?

Do you have a name or can I call you Mine?

Do you like sleeping? Me too! We should do it together sometimes!

Can I borrow a kiss? I promise I’ll give it back.

Aside from being sexy, what do you do for a living? (Me: The “best” one. :respect: Though that’s probably debatable. :innocent: May try this on Taylor Swift the next time she’s here. :inlove:)

Do you live in a cornfield, coz I’m stalking you.

Never do the same mistake twice, unless he’s hot!

My mind is full of You!

Can I keep You?

Hey You! I love your face!

You don’t cross my mind. You live there!

As beautiful on the inside as I am on the outside.

Let me touch your shirt so I can tell you if it’s boyfriend material.

Besides chocolate, you’re my favorite.

Smile. It’s the second-best thing you can do with your lips.

In a room full of art, I would still stare at you. (Me: Jesus Fucking Christ! Please don't tell me you think this one would actually work?)

Fuck, he looks creepy. :( McDonalds had a campaign several years ago to attract younger consumers. It didn't work... One, they got "Millennials" confused with "Gen Z" as many do. Two, the campaign sucked. "Selfies, here I come." Three, in 2016 there were "evil clown sightings" worldwide and basically Ronald was toast.

But his "makeover" got me thinking... Maybe this is what I should wear (https://www.eater.com/2014/4/24/6236135/ronald-mcdonalds-millennial-makeover-includes-selfies-cargo-pants) for my date with Dove Cameron? :inlove: :innocent:

As if the news wasn't bad enough... :(

Today, CNN reported coronavirus can exist in semen and may be passed on to your partner during sex. Here's what they had to say:

The new coronavirus can persist in men's semen even after they have begun to recover, a finding that raises the possibility the virus could be sexually transmitted, Chinese researchers said Thursday.

A team at Shangqiu Municipal Hospital tested 38 male patients treated there at the height of the pandemic in China, in January and February.
About 16% of them had evidence of the coronavirus in their semen, the team reported in the journal JAMA Network Open. About a quarter of them were in the acute stage of infection and nearly 9% of them were recovering, the team reported.

"We found that SARS-CoV-2 can be present in the semen of patients with COVID-19, and SARS-CoV-2 may still be detected in the semen of recovering patients," Diangeng Li of Chinese People's Liberation Army General Hospital in Beijing and colleagues wrote.

"Even if the virus cannot replicate in the male reproductive system, it may persist, possibly resulting from the privileged immunity of testes," the team added. Privileged immunity means the immune system cannot fully reach the region to attack viral invaders.

If this is true maybe I'll just have to cut them off...:lol::lol:

Today’s “fake ad” once again confuses anyone “over 18” with the Baby Boom generation (those born approximately 1946-1964). But what would you expect from “clickbait”?

Shit, she’s not a “Boomer.” Hell she’s probably still in her 20’s. And our kitchen looks sort of like that. Our home was built around 2004-2005. :(

Here is a real example of a kitchen from the late 60’s or early 70’s. It’s an ad for GE. But I know she’s not thinking about cooking dinner… “I can’t wait for Andy to get home from his job in ‘Data Processing’ all that Fortran programming must be frustrating… a night of wild sex would take care of that. Especially on our new waterbed. We could put on the Doors and drink a bottle of Boone’s Farm.” :inlove: :innocent:

Of course, I have nothing against “Boomers.” :respect: To me it looks like that period in our history was awesome. Christ, they went to the fucking moon! And developed early versions of the technology we use today. But I especially like the women. You’ll hear no complaints from me! :inlove::inlove::inlove::inlove::inlove:

(I told them it was an awesome idea but just to look out for Spam, Trolls, Haters, Pornography, “Fake News,” and Ransomware. They looked at me funny… See you later, got to go to another “WebEx” meeting. Maybe if I really could travel back in time I could stop this whole thing? Today would normally be “Race Day” in Indianapolis. Due to coronavirus, they have decided to move the “500” to August. NASCAR is still able to run however, albeit without spectators. The “Coca Cola 600” will be broadcast later tonight. :respect:

The following is part of Indy lore. The most famous pace car passenger in 1971 was US astronaut John Glenn. Poor guy, he survived space travel only to nearly be killed… :( I know a little about this incident but not a lot. This is what Wikipedia had to say:

As the field came down the main stretch for the start, Eldon Palmer (a local Dodge dealer) pulled into the pits and accelerated down the pit lane. Palmer continued to accelerate, under the impression he was required to cross the start/finish line in the pit area prior to the race cars doing so out on the track. His reference flag had been removed and he missed his planned braking spot. Moving upwards of perhaps 125 mph (over 200 km/h), Palmer realized he was going too fast, and rather than perilously veering back on to the racing surface, he stood on the brakes (the car was equipped with drum brakes) and lost control. The car swerved and skidded to the end of the pit lane and crashed into a photographers' stand. The stand toppled and collapsed, injuring 29 people, but no one was killed. Dr. Vicente Alvarez, a freelance photographer from Argentina, was one of two on the stand who were seriously injured. Alvarez survived, and died in the late 1990s. Tony Hulman suffered a sprained ankle, and a shaken Schenkel sat out the remainder of the ABC broadcast.

Palmer maintained possession of the car, and eventually it was repaired and restored. Indiana businessman Steven Cage purchased the vehicle in 2006, and it currently is displayed at his RPM Collection in Fishers, Indiana. Reactions of the accident were very critical afterwards, and for the next several years, the pace car drivers selected were either former Indy drivers or people with racing experience.

These shoes were designed to practice "social distancing."

(Just got done posting about my "date" with Charlie's Angels (http://forum.transladyboy.com/showpost.php?p=276307&postcount=309) way back in 1976. But even that time would not be safe. Wasn't there an outbreak of something called "Legionnaires Disease" in the United States? :()

(Yes. I still live in Zionsville. We recently switched ISP’s. Sometimes “Clayton” comes up now. Clayton is very far from here. Head West on US 40 towards Illinois. It’s a very tiny town. It’s where “Ray’s Trash (https://raystrash.com)” is located.)

Today’s best “fake ad” from CNN was this. Donna Summer. “Bad Girls.” :inlove: From 1978 I think (oops... 1979 I looked it up). The height of disco! The 70’s were almost as good as the 60’s for sexy women.

“Last Resort” by Papa Roach was the song of the summer I graduated from High School. Shit. That also seems like a long time ago… The height of “nu metal.” It all runs together now. No wonder everyone thinks “anyone born before 2001” is a “Boomer.” :(

But Iggy Pop is still going strong at 73. According to his website he will be touring next year. He was born in Muskegon Michigan. Never knew that. :respect:

This was in the news today for whatever reason. I guess everything is measured thesedays... :(

“According to the NFL Network, Trevor Lawrence (Clemson QB, likely to go #1 in the 2021 draft) came in at 6 feet 5 and 5/8 inches and 213 pounds. He also had a hand size of 10 inches, with his arm measured at 31 1/2 inches with a wingspan of 78 1/4 inches.”

Many years ago “Dr. Andy” played football in college. Don’t ever remember anyone measuring my hands however. Although I never played Quarterback. This made me curious how I’d “measure up.” So after stretching my right hand to it’s max, I faced the judgement of the tape: 9.5”.

Curious, I looked up other NFL Quarterbacks. Apparently this is a “thing.” Makes sense since the ability to grip the football affects throwing or catching. Here’s what I found:

“Average hand size for a quarterback is now 9.6 inches. Some of the top short quarterbacks (6-2 or shorter) of the past decade have ridiculously large hands — Drew Brees (10.25 inches), Russell Wilson (10.25 inches) and Brett Favre (10.38 inches). The average length of a male hand is 7.44 inches.”

Just how serious is this to the NFL? Read about it here:

https://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/ct-spt-nfl-combine-hand-size-20190228-story.html

“Dr. Andy” has met Drew Brees, Peyton Manning, and Andrew Luck. I guess I would say Peyton is definitely taller than me, Drew is shorter and Andrew Luck is similar in height. Shaking hands with them I would say their hands seemed at least as big as mine. Didn’t really think about it.

Tom Brady who is also just over 6’4” reportedly has only 9.38” hands. Poor guy. Bet he’ll never make it in the NFL. Besides he’s too old...:lol::lol: And Patrick Mahomes hands come in at a relatively “small” 9.25”.

("Dr. Andy" could also not help noticing the "R squared" of .01 in the scatterplot below. So I guess it's what you do with what you have. Sound familiar? ;))

a9127
02-13-2021, 09:04 PM
When he first looked at the above graph, "Dr. Andy" was not paying attention. His mind most likely was on women... He didn't notice Mark Sanchez (NY Jets. Infamous for the "Butt Fumble (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=82RIfy-gRa4).") Mark is what's known as an "outlier." If you take him out, you would most likely get some kind of positive relationship. Maybe when I have free time, I'll track down this data and run my own regression analysis on it.
