This is, indeed, an interesting question, and I can only speculate... I would guess that the percentage of gay women is quite a bit smaller than gay men. At least openly - and at least here in Asia. And for a woman to be attracted to a trans*woman she'd probably have to be rather gay (as opposed to men attracted to trans*women - they are probably never gay).

Also, there could be some stigma regarding the non-op trans*woman's sexual organs. Call it a hunch and I may certainly be grossly wrong toward lesbians here, but my gut-feeling is that quite a few lesbians tend to have sort of a grudge against men. Much more so than gay-men tend to have against women. It's just a bit more "political" somehow.

I really have never seen a cis*woman with a real woman... or should I for clarification say that I've never seen a cis*woman with a trans*woman - I doubt I ever will.

The few lesbians I know find my attraction to trans*woman slightly curious, and I'm certain that they think (without saying it) that I'm probably just a closeted gay who really yearn for a "real man" with a 34 inch machine dick and a giant beard...

I do know, however, that many more trans*women in the West are sexually attracted to women than is the case here in Asia. So for many Western trans*women it must be doubly frustrating, I reckon.

Gender identification may have little to do with sexual orientation... but it would certainly seem that sexual orientation has EVERYTHING to do with (your partner's) gender identification... :-)

I've been a part of lesbian/dyke/queer community for the past decade or so, and I've had my ups and downs. Honestly, I'd say that most of my issues were with myself (that is they were my issues with my body that I was projecting onto the women around me). Now I hang out with alot of kinky dykes, and I get plenty of loving, and my partner is also a woman. Basically I'm a part of the dyke community, and there are plenty of gay women who accept that I'm more than a cock and tits.

I think many trans women feel uncomfortable around women, and tend to attribute malicious attitudes that are often times non-existent.
