Default 1970?

Realized that 2020 is almost over. Soon 1971 will be “50 years ago.” Shit. I still think “the 80’s” were “only 20 years ago...” You mean they’re not?

Was really amazed at the amount of sexism in many of the ads of the time. Some were so bad—particularly in the area of technology—I didn’t want to share them even as humor. I think the 60’s were actually better. Hell, most of these are bad enough...

Enjoy this look back.

The “IBM 370” came out in 1970. I didn’t even know there WAS an “IBM 370.” Of course I know about the “360” from my study of technology. I’ve given lectures on it and its place in history. She’s saying: “Andy sent me a dirty message. I didn’t even know you could DO that... we’ll have to try it... (giggle) He’s so naughty. But why did he have to use so much paper?”

“Vogue” November 1970. The model’s name was Donna Jordan. I should know who she is. Found out she was born in 1950. Very beautiful and sexy and popular model of the time.

I’ve been studying this cover all day while working on my computer trying to make sense of it. What exactly are they saying? This was at a time when the United States was involved in the Vietnam War and there was a real “cultural battle” going on at home. Nixon was president. He had campaigned on “law and order” and the support of what he called the “silent majority.” National Lampoon was a satirical humor magazine known for provocative covers. Anyway, she’s really pretty with long hair. Why is the “son of a bitch prick barber” cutting it? And is that her dad? He looks more like he’s from the 1930’s. Maybe that’s the point? Perhaps I’m reading too much into it but I see a lot going on here.

This ad was interesting for many reasons. The stuff about “time sharing” and other business applications “Dr. Andy” found fascinating. Plus I found a date for tonight. Maybe we could go see “Easy Rider”? Preliminary research shows this system originated in the 1960’s but who cares...

“Dr. Andy” teaches typing! Ask me if I love my work?

“Jasmine” is NOT from 1970. She’s from 2008. But that is a Johnny Lightning Limited Edition 1970 Dodge Challenger. I’m gonna need a car. Besides Jasmine looks like a “Future Wife” to me!

Default The Roaring 20's!

Thought it would be interesting to look back, say, 100 years? Here’s a few pics I found from the 1920’s. Nothing’s changed. Sex is sex. Fuck yeah!

Thelma Todd. A very popular actress of the 1920’s and 30’s.

Lilli Damita. Also a popular singer, dancer, and actress of the 20’s.

She’s saying: “Shit. I like your car much better Andy.”

“Dr. Andy” teaches how to use “adding machines.” But I don’t know how they work!

Joan Blondell. “Future Wife.” She’s saying: “Hi Andy. You look happy to see me (giggle).”

The last pic is from 1921! She’s a typist. Really cute. And those legs. “Future Wife.” Wonder what this was from? Early porn? Tried to find out who she was. No luck.

Default 1971

My dad once told me he loved flying early in his career with General Motors. I can see why.

I do support one’s right to peacefully protest. Especially if it is for a just cause.

Elaine Taylor. An actress of the time. She was married to actor Christopher Plummer. Additional research is required.

“Dr. Andy! Thanks for coming to our graduation party!”

Her name is Marisa Mell. Wasn’t familiar with her. Very beautiful. Research was required. Sadly I learned she passed away in 1992.

Went to great lengths to find a pic with a motorcycle. This is supposed to be from 1973 however. I’m two years off... So what!

Default Ziegfeld Girls

Over one hundred years ago. These pics came up via my Pinterest account a few days ago. Must have been from a search for one of my earlier posts.

Never realized the “Ziegfeld Follies” was so Risqué. Thought it was just another Broadway show. This is what Wikipedia had to say about it:

Quote:
Ziegfeld Girls were the chorus girls and showgirls from Florenz Ziegfeld's theatrical Broadway revue spectaculars known as the Ziegfeld Follies (1907–1931), in New York City, which were based on the Folies Bergère of Paris.
Billie Burke (“Glinda the Good Witch” in the Wizard of Oz – you know, the one who says: “Toto too!”) was one of Ziegfeld’s many wives. You learn something new every day.

Default 60's Tech

“Dr. Andy” and “Professor ila” teaching their Fortran class. 1969 perhaps?

Guy must have a hardon. He’s trying to “act” busy. I’d never get any work done either...

She knows a lot more than you do dickhead. And short sleeves with a tie? BTW my granddad called, he wants his Brylcreem back.

This looks more like a “fashion shoot.” But who’s complaining?

This was the concept of “space” way back when. Shit, no wonder we haven’t been back to the moon in 50 years.

“Future Wife”

(Moderators: Those look like “college students” in the first pic. I don’t think they would have had a class like this in “high school.”)

Earliest car phone? She’s saying: “But your wife won’t know...”

At a sorority house sometime in the 1950’s. “Guess what guys? Dr. Andy just said he could join us!!!”

“Backstage with the Rockettes.” Good thing I took the “long lasting” Cialis...

Smoking was a “thing.” Everyone did it. The one on the right... I don’t care if she smokes in bed.

It's 1947 and my "future wife" is wondering where I am...

"Dr. Andy” and “Professor ila” again. Yes. Of course the message is dirty...
