A little help for your memory:
Han Solo, Greedo, Mos Eisley Cantina.
Watch the Original and the answer is clear without question.

Thanks for jogging my memory. Of course, Han shot first in the original. I know there was some controversy about George Lucas altering it in late 1990s, but I'm don't follow all things Star Wars enough to remember the details.

Bah! It was Greedo who shot first. I have the DVD and the 80's era casette and when I play it in slo-mo, it always shows the blaster bolt leaving Greedos pistol first.

You should watch the Original VHS again and not your changed Special Edition DVD! And you really don?t need the slow-mo to see what happens.

Indeed, it does! And it is as I wrote.

Now, who agrees that if this keeps up we'll have to rename this thread "Old Movies"?

Yeah, I was miffed when Lucas went all PC and changed it. Han shot first, that is what made him such a good anti-hero(who became a hero)!

Remember the crappy CGI scene with Han and Jabba in the first one (IV)?
Here you can see how Jabba looked and talked in 77. It was deleted from the original.
But be warned, you will never see Jabba the Hut in the same way again.

To get the bridge to new movies: George Lucas plans to edit Star Wars into 3D. I fear the worst 3D effects, unnecessary 80th like near/far effects.

George Lucas had one really good idea for a movie. He successfully turned that idea into three good movies. But then he had no more good ideas. Like so many artists who rest on their laurels, he continually looks for ways to milk the original idea to keep himself going. Thus, we got episodes I-III. Thus, we got the alterations to the original three. And now this 3-D crap.

One of the signs of a truly great artist is knowing when to quit. Lucas created one of the best science fiction epics ever with his original Star Wars. He did it by transforming a classic American genre -- the Western -- and giving it a new setting, with compelling characters preeminent and special effects secondary. It's a shame that he couldn't stop there!

On my VHS that I have, it shows Greedo firing first. It seems the Star Wars fairy has re-edited my VHS as well! Fuck you George Lucas!
