No, Jen, I was just making a point about skating skills. But if you want to be compared to Dave Schultz, that's your perogative. The question from me, then, would be whether you would be beaten in a fight by a player 20 years older than you.

I'm thinking of the Tim Horton incident here.

Another question would be whether you can carry a tune. Have you ever heard Schultz's recording of "Penalty Box"? For a guy who holds the record sitting in the box, he ought to be a bit more familiar with "how it goes"!

Ah, memories ...

But really, in the immortal words of Triumph the Insult Comic Dog, "I kid. I kid."

End of 1st period, Switzerland 0-0 USA. The Swiss has been a stubborn team during the Olympics.

Will Canada start with Luongo or Brodeur tonight against the Russians?

Brodeur's Dual Citizenship was obviously affecting his mind on Sunday night, he didn't know which team he was playing for.
But Luongo conceded 2 goals on only 23 shots against the weak Germans last night.

Mike Babcock already stated that Luongo would be in net against Russia. If he plays well enough tonight then I can't see anyone else playing in net for Canada the rest of the way.

If the Swiss can beat the US(perhaps if they got cocky after their win against Canada), then that would make our road to the gold a little easier.

Doesn't look like that's going to happen. The United States is now up 1-0, but there's still 15:53 left in the third period.

The US team ended up winning 2-0(the second goal was an empty netter). Hiller was great for the Swiss, and he totally kept them in the game. A little more luck for the Swiss and they just might have pulled off the upset victory. Alas...

Interesting thought. Do you think he is a double agent? A mole? Doesn't the fact that he said that despite his U.S. citizenship he would always remain loyal to Hockey Canada count for anything?

I don't know the answers. I did hear that Team Canada offered him poutine before every game, and Team USA offered only bland old french fries.

An interesting conversation at work today. One of the guys mentioned how piss poor and disinterested Brodeur is in the net. All bets are on Luongo for the rest of the Olympics.

Another interesting point, shadows. I mentioned to one of the guys at work today your comment about Pronger. I said I couldn't remember the name and before I could describe your post anymore the guy said "Pronger, he shouln't even be on the team." That's the general feeling around where I work. So you are not alone in your opinion, shadows.

He's been pretty much reviled in all the conversations I've had as well. He is way too old to play on that level and it's not like he has a lot of games to atone for a game-costing gaffe like he would during the regular season in the NHL. They couldn't have chosen Mike Green over Sir Loafsalot?

I'm glad to see that my ire towards Mr. Fallsonface is shared by many fellow Canadians.

4-1 Canada after 1 period!

Two things of note. Luongo is playing well and the offense is alive for the second straight game. This bodes well if it continues.
