How big is the dildo? If you're trying something too large or if you're not using enough lubricant (not soap or lotion, real lubricant), then you will have trouble getting anything to go in. If you're not ready or lubed up, you probably don't want it to go in, it will just hurt like hell. It also helps to insert fingers first. Go for at least two before you try to insert a dildo. A bit of incremental stretch will prevent injury.
