I kinda think Donna gets the same response as Martha got basicly it was you're not Rose, Rose was one of the all time fav compaions and was a hard act to follow Jerseygirl Jen

Martha felt a little drab and flat to me. She had a more family centric life before meeting the Doctor , i mean we meet her entire family in the first five min. of series 3. And while traveling w/ the Doctor she realized how much she missed them and opted to not keep traveling. She was ok but like you said Rose was hard to follow ...
