no no, Ila, a pan is a perfectly acceptable outdoor utensil, as long as it's not the glass lidded Teflon one from your kitchen.

Important features:

Aluminium for super lightweightness
All fit inside each other, thanks to no handles
frying pan also works as a lid
a fitting-inside kettle is also acceptable (http://www.gear-zone.co.uk/eshop/pro...Kettle_250.jpg)
A coffee pot does not fit inside the pans, so it is out.

The rules for camping are: If it fits on your back, it's ok. A real camp trip should have no more than the same basic items that you would take up Everest. Now this counts out cast iron dutch ovens, as it's too heavy, and foam mattresses are out cos they are too big, inflatable mattresses are ok (like a thermarest, not a double airbed).
