Second that. Tom Neuwirth is just a gay guy who made up this Conchita Wurst persona after a failed attempt in the music industry. He was part of the Starmania casting show in 2006 and vanished in oblivion like most corporate tools who think such shows are about talent.

The Eurovision Song Contest is a heavily politicized circus show. Tom Neuwirth served as a useful tool amidst the current anti-Russian hysteria. The same people (Western governments and business elites) who accuse Putin's Russia of homophobia support neo-Nazis in the Ukraine who are known for their tolerance towards gay people.
