I was hoping for Robert Carlyle or Bill Nighy.

But Matt Smith must have done something right , his take on the Doctor was apparently fresh and new and not just rehashing previous Doctors mannerisms.

No really they worked together on 2 other tv shows.

The sex scene was on her "call girl" series ... i forget the name of it and also on a detective series where Billie solved mysteries. Google image search Matt Smith w/ Billie Piper and you can see the pics.

Work on those shows got the attention of the producers.
