Well, really, I would figure that unless your getting really serious with a t-girl, why even mention it? It's something that really only affects you. And also you should take your girlfriends wishes in the matter as well. She may not want you to say anything about it. But there are some things that might force the issue.
But if you want to tell your family, go for it. I'm pretty sure that you already know how they're gonna react.
