One thing I disagree with you about is fighting, Ila. I enjoy watching a good fight in hockey, but it cannot be started by one person attacking the other from behind. They both have to be willing to "go at it" to be a good, clean fight(well, relatively clean anyhow).

I will always argue that fighting is not a part of hockey. I can understand tempers flaring, but it doesn't have to result in a fight. I don't recall Wayne Gretzky ever getting in a fight and even though he never played for the right team I respect his ability and the fact that he never had a fight.

Watch some of the classic games from the 50s and 60s on the NHL channel. Sure there is the occasional fight, but nothing like what happens now.
