So Tracy, have you ever experianced a true blue norther like James Michener describes in his book Texas; one where the temperature drops 60 degrees in a matter of a few hours???

I wish... that would be awesome. The most extreme weather I've been in was Hurricane Ike. And yes, I know Ike was nothing compared to Katrina. Like I'd live in a city below sea level in Hurricane Alley lol.

Hi there.
Over the last few years, i have worked door to door and on 2 different winters there were days that hit -40 (-40C = -40F) with a bit of wind, 20mph your face feels it's being pelted with needles, winter's hell sometimes. JohnDowe. |

One morning, I was going to work, and it was so cold, 51 degrees below zero Celsius in Boston with the wind chill factor. Everytime I tried to use my cigarette lighter, the flame would freeze.

Hi there.
Well with the wind chill,it was -60, and when we spoke it came out as bits of ice, we had to thaw them out to hear what was said. JohnDowe. |

Tracy! You're a Texan T-girl? That's hot! Do you own a ten gallon hat by any chance?:D
I remember in 2007, I was at Ft. Hood for 45 days and it rained nonstop for the whole time I was there. We had flash flood warnings and whatnot. Mucho lightning. Is that common? I mean like constant downpours and stuff.

Considering that there is a Koala bear in the picture I would be willing to bet that the picture is from Australia, which has seen many wildfires in the last few years.

Texas weather goes through different patterns, but when it storms it really storms.

I signed up for a Twitter feed from "Project Vortex" this summer. Here are a few pictures. Check out the "armor plating" on the vehicle in the last photo!
Where I am from (Michigan), we don't get this kind of thing very often but I have driven the "I-44 and I-40" route ("old Route 66") through Missouri, Oklahoma, and Texas many times. Must be scary to live there. ![]() Last edited by aw9725; 03-07-2013 at 11:42 PM. |
