I cleaned my desktop yesterday.
I took the tips from this site. Here Furthermore, I tweaked the Desktop>properties>appearence>advanced and turned everything to less flashy colours. Now my desktop is so clean and cool that I feel a surge of satisfaction whenever I see it. Now most applications have changed looks. My wordpad, notepad have black background and green font. Everything is more geeky and less distracting.
