At issue here is
not that he says it would never really happen, or that he would never hurt you. In fact, he has hurt you, by harming your self-esteem. Why should a man like that be rewarded with your companionship?
Fantasies are fine in relationships, so long as it is mutually acceptable to talk about or enact. The operative word here is
mutually.
