Did you know that most Canadian beer is hardly any better than the mass-market piss-type American beer you're referring to? It's a feature of all pilsner-style lagers made in bulk.

Actually most beer in North America and Europe has an alcohol content of 4% - 5%. Most Germans I've met will never admit this of their beer, but it's right on the labels (I've looked).

My comment had nothing to do with alcohol content. It was about flavor and quality. And I do not think that Germany is the world's beermaking leader. That is a tossup between Belgium and the United States, and the latter only because of the plethora of craft brewers. Canada has some excellent ones, too.

But since this thread is about "height," I will begin to get it back on track by mentioning that a good Belgian Tripel should be poured so as to have a head of 2-1/2" height and lacing on the glass before drinking.

If you guys really want a "tall" (good) beer, Negra Modelo from Mexico is a superb dark beer.
