End of 1st period, Switzerland 0-0 USA. The Swiss has been a stubborn team during the Olympics.
Will Canada start with Luongo or Brodeur tonight against the Russians? Brodeur's Dual Citizenship was obviously affecting his mind on Sunday night, he didn't know which team he was playing for. But Luongo conceded 2 goals on only 23 shots against the weak Germans last night.

If the Swiss can beat the US(perhaps if they got cocky after their win against Canada), then that would make our road to the gold a little easier.

Doesn't look like that's going to happen. The United States is now up 1-0, but there's still 15:53 left in the third period.

The US team ended up winning 2-0(the second goal was an empty netter). Hiller was great for the Swiss, and he totally kept them in the game. A little more luck for the Swiss and they just might have pulled off the upset victory. Alas...

I don't know the answers. I did hear that Team Canada offered him poutine before every game, and Team USA offered only bland old french fries. |

An interesting conversation at work today. One of the guys mentioned how piss poor and disinterested Brodeur is in the net. All bets are on Luongo for the rest of the Olympics.
Another interesting point, shadows. I mentioned to one of the guys at work today your comment about Pronger. I said I couldn't remember the name and before I could describe your post anymore the guy said "Pronger, he shouln't even be on the team." That's the general feeling around where I work. So you are not alone in your opinion, shadows. |

4-1 Canada after 1 period!
![]() Two things of note. Luongo is playing well and the offense is alive for the second straight game. This bodes well if it continues.

Nash finally got a goal, Boyle has a goal and an assist(his play has picked up considerably from the first couple of games). And as I am typing this....5-1 Canada!!!!!!

And it's unlucky the Swiss drew the USA in the quarterfinals, I wonder how well they would've done against Russia, Sweden or Finland? Quote:
BBC are going to show Canada-Russia from 2:30 AM GMT (in about 40 mins), I thought they'd give us highlights of the 1st period and then go live for the rest of the game. Wrong. So I tried to avoid the score and then the man on the public address system at the short track skating said, "Canada 7, Russia 2." This was followed by a huge cheer from the crowd. When have you ever been able to clearly hear anything that anyone says over a public address system, especially when it's transmitted via the television?![]() ![]() So I gave up trying to avoid the score and knowing you'd post in-game updates here, I no longer needed to avoid the hockey thread. I even watched the Czech Rep beat Latvia last night on the BBC, they aired it without, yes without, any commentary. No there wasn't a technical hitch. It was the oddest experience, watch live sport on TV with all the crowd noises but no one describing the game.
