This website is an *adult* oriented forum for transsexuals and their admirers. The term Transsexual, transgendered or Ladyboy is not derogatory. Some may dislike words like "shemale", but in the end I believe it's all about how the words are used and if the poster has ill-intentions.

I can't speak for the administrators or moderators of this forum, but I can assure you that this forum does not tolerate bigotry.
I tend to agree with this statement. And as a guy living in Asia the term "ladyboy" is heavily used within the trans-community here without any ill-meaning - even "shemale". In the political West this is different, though.

Different folks, different attitudes.

However, terms such as "trans-woman" or "transgender" normally would be considered more respectful - or simply "woman" or "lady" as you suggest.

It does depend on the context, though. And also the person. I have, most certainly, several Asian trans-woman friends who object to the term "ladyboy" (or its local versions) and prefer just to be called "woman". At least when referring to themselves... :-)

It's an issue that keeps flaring up, and my experience is that it also depends on who you are - a little bit the same as the socalled n-word - as an African-American you can use it without a problem, but don't do it as an outsider :-)

So I guess it all boils down to how the receiver perceives your intentions when using a particular term.

Be respectful - and be observant.

Peace!
