Default Zombieholics-Anything and Everything Zombies!

I give you the zombie thread!

I don't know about you guys but I am a fan of the shambling undead. I have watched a shit ton of movies(not all of them of course) relating to zombies. My faves are

Dawn of the Dead(original and remake)
Night of the Living Dead(original and 1980's remake with Tony Todd)
Land of the Dead(say what you will but I think it was awesome)
Diary of the Dead(see above comment)
Whatever the name of that British one was where the journalists were running around in the woods.
Shaun of the Dead
Resident Evil: Degeneration

I won't mention the other Resident Evil titles because Paul Anderson fucked those up royally. Seriously. Alice? Nemesis was a creation whose sole purpose was to get physical with Milla Jovovich? The first was okay as it could have explained how the T-Virus got loose but after the first one, it completely went to shit and barely even followed the plot of the games.

I have the Zombie Survival Guide and World War Z books from Max Brooks and the graphic novel The Walking Dead. All three are excellent books to read. I read the Star Wars book Death Troopers where the Empire was experimenting with BioWeapons and creates a zombie virus. All in all it was so-so.

And for those who have read World War Z, here is an artists depiction of The Battle of Yonkers! It reeks of sheer awesomeness!

I don't think there is anyone who could fill the shoes of Bruce Campbell. If he lost some weight, the ol' Bruce could pull it off.I just hope that it won't be a special effects oriented movie though. That is how the newest Star Wars crapped out. Too much focus on the graphics.

Has anyone ever played the games, Evil Dead: A Fistfull of Boomstick and Evil Dead: Regeneration? I hope the movie will be something like the games. They are one of the few games I can play over and over again.

Default Ok You zombie fanatics!

Has anyone ever made a zombie movie that is based more on the true zombie types - that is people who are put into the zombie state through the use of drugs? Many years ago I read a book which I think was called "The Serpant and the Rainbow" which was a scholar's investigation into Voodoo and the making of Zombies. If I remember right - zombies were made by using zombie powder which was some kind of poison like extract from frogs? or fish??? Anyway... has anyone seen a movie along these lines that is differant from the old bite ya - poof - your'e a zombie too now.????

Actually they made The Serpent and The Rainbow into a movie. It starred a very young Bill Pullman. The toxins supposedly used to make zombie powder are poison from the pufferfish(in less than lethal amounts of course) and some kind of powder that has the effect of making you very succeptible to suggestion.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Ser..._Rainbow_(film)

Alot of White Zombie and Rob Zombies music is based after the old pre-Romero version of hypnotized/voodoo zombies. Hell, even the groups name comes from an old B-rated horror film called "White Zombie".

If you guys like Zombies, here's a new project you can look forward to.

A short film called THE SOLDIER, made in 2007, is being turned into a feature film.
Here's the quick description for it...

A cross between 'Saving Private Ryan' and '28 Days Later'. Set 13 days after the D-day landings, this film explores the horror of the Third Reich's disease testing experiments and the consequences. Made in 46 hours for a few hundred pounds.

If you're curious, here's the link to watch it on YouTube.
It only runs about 10 minutes, and it's fun to see:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JuPgdTXxWgI

The movie version is tentatively titled The 4th Reich.
Here is a description for it...

June 1944, after the glorious victory on D-day, the armies of the combined allied forces begin their long push to Berlin with the aim of bringing down Hitler and the despised Nazi regime of the Third Reich.

But buried deep in secret files German Reichstag, is the chilling reality of Hitler's plan to create an eternal living hell, The 4th Reich.

Dr. Joseph Mengele, Hitler's chief scientist, was charged with creating a new super army of invincible soldiers. A force that would never be beaten. His experiments and research at the death camps of Auschwitz, Belsen and Birkenau would create unspeakable evil.

A small brigade of soldiers from 3rd Infantry Division, under the command of the battle hardened Captain Bathurst embark on an ever darkening quest to liberate Europe. Fighting their way through the French countryside, villages and war ravaged towns. Each step discovering progressively strange battles and events until they reach an abandoned research facility where the true horror begins...

And if you're interested, here's the web site for the film as well...
