To get the bridge to new movies: George Lucas plans to edit Star Wars into 3D. I fear the worst 3D effects, unnecessary 80th like near/far effects.
George Lucas had one really good idea for a movie. He successfully turned that idea into three good movies. But then he had no more good ideas. Like so many artists who rest on their laurels, he continually looks for ways to milk the original idea to keep himself going. Thus, we got episodes I-III. Thus, we got the alterations to the original three. And now this 3-D crap.

One of the signs of a truly great artist is knowing when to quit. Lucas created one of the best science fiction epics ever with his original Star Wars. He did it by transforming a classic American genre -- the Western -- and giving it a new setting, with compelling characters preeminent and special effects secondary. It's a shame that he couldn't stop there!
