Default Jury duty

Today I had to attend the local Circuit Court as a potential Juror.

I dressed in my most expensive dress, short coat and blond wig. After an hour waiting to be called into Court, our names were read out one at a time. Then in turn we approached the Judge so that both prosecutor and defense could either accept or reject us for the Jury.

I was rejected and returned home, but not before I asked The Clerk - Why was I rejected. He replied- Ms Dunbar you were too well dressed and therefore likely to find the defendant guilty.

Not once was my true male gender mentioned and was accepted as female when m,y name Ms Dunbar was called out in Court.

Times are changing for the better, though perhaps not for justice to be done. Why should my quality of dress be important?
