Thanks for replying to the thread Bionca. It's cool to see diversity of opinions and very informative when you see geographically diverse opinions also.
Here in the UK, a transsexual person will be very insulted to be called a 'shemale' maybe not so in other cultures.
We have another tongue in cheek and amusing 'label' closely linked with this topic and that is 'Fag-Hag' ie a woman that has a liking for trannies. Dunno if that expression gets used elsewhere in the world or not.

Well, most trans* women in the US are not overly fond of the word "Shemale" - there is aot of baggage associated with the word. However, much like the GLBTs in the 90's reclaimed "Queer", some trans* folks have decided to adopt Shemale as an identity. I have some issues with this.. but what do I know...

Fag-Hag is pretty much a term given to hetero women who hang out with gay guys (also called Fruit-Fly or Queen Bee). As far as I know the term isn't really used so much among Trans* in the US.

Shemale. Someone only interested in going far enough to give an outward apperance of being female while endevoring to keep a fully functional penis. For whatever reason. (my favorite)

Shemale is a term not liked by some due (i think) to the percieved link with prostitution or porn. This should not be the case IMO GGs are in porn and they are not stigmatised for what they are.
