This forum offers more info, shares more ideas, and allows others to 'know' each other moreso than a web site which only goes to a 'quickie'. This forum has the potential to understand what others go through and offers an education to those who are seeking a 'relationship'. Reading what TG's have to put up with helps everyone outside their world understand their fears ,hopes, dreams as well as their desires. Even better(?) helps other TG's & TV's realize that their not alone with their problems. But back to meeting others, What exactly does someone want, a totally unknown or someone who they can perhaps bond with before meeting? If it's just a 'quickie' just cruise down where they 'associate'. If you want to have a friend, isn't it nicer to start with others you know have the same intrests?
But I could be wrong, all I want is to broaden my knowledge and if I share some pen pal assciation's ,I'm even better. One can never have too much knowledge or too many friends.

I'd definitely have to agree with New Believer on this. The advantage to a message board forum -- as opposed to a dating site -- is that over time you can read and absorb what someone else is saying, and thus you can get a much better sense of their overall personality. So, over time, you can figure out if they're someone you'd actually like to know better, even if its only to become online friends.

And let's face it: most dating sites are a "hit and run" situation at best. They're specifically constructed to showcase a person's most positive points and do it in the quickest way possible, which ALSO means they consciously know that they're trying to HIDE a person's biggest shortcomings. Plus, toss-in the fact that most people at a dating site will bend the truth a bit about certain things to seem more attractive, and you've now got an equation for things going sour pretty fast.

On the other hand, sites like Adult Friend Finder are actually MORE honest than the average dating site. That's because a sex site like that makes no bones at all about "who" is meeting "who". Basically, everyone there IS looking for a fast hook-up and some immediate sex. So if that's all that you're after, you're better off just admitting it to yourself and going for it.

Hmmm... I guess I stand partially corrected!

But one point I'll still quibble over: Newbeliever and CreativeMind are both talking about the potential for starting proper relationships over time on this website, and I agree with their assessments.... but I think Bionca was mainly referring to those horn-dogs who are looking for sexual encounters with their chosen objects of desire, i.e. TG's, in which case they are in the wrong place (as CreativeMind has accepted).

Good points all around. The point of this post is that real connections can happen everywhere - even a site dedicated to discussions of porn. It isn't that hooking up or *ghasp* more meaningful relationships can't happen here, but the tactics employed aren't going to do the job.

A single sentence and a yahoo address (if that) comes off as disparate at best, more likely insincere.
