Newburgh - i used to live across the river in Fishkill. I'd ride my bike across the bridge and around old George's HQ. That's just about the widest part of the Hudson river there.

Actually, the widest point is between Croton and Haverstraw, which is about 30 miles downriver from Newburgh.

Was there a train stop there - I can't remember. I know there was no bridge. Above NYC there was only the tappan zee, bear mountain, B-N and the one further up in Kingston-Pough. That was the extent of my travels along the Hudson when i lived there.

Alas, unlike smc, I live far away in the wastes of Canada(lol, just kidding. I actually live in SW Ontario). It's still too far away! (where's a crying emoticon when you need one?)
