Elio, I Didn't think about the pope "law" in Italy.
I don't know a lot about civil marriages for none UK residence so ive tried to find out as much as i can for you, it's a bit complex but basically- They are called Civil partnerships for same sex partners and are basically the same as marriage in that you have all the same rights and privileges of marriage at all levels. However the ceremony cannot be performed at religious buildings only at a registrar's offices. You have to have lived in the district where you are getting married for at least 7 day's before giving notice of marriage to the registrar, you both have to go giving proof of your age, full names, and nationality, then you have to wait 15 days before you can married . You could come over for a holiday for about 3-4 weeks, that would cover it for you. You can get an entry clearance visa pacifically for a civil partnership from an entry clearance officer at a British embassy in your country. You will need to prove you have lived together for at lest a year (i think). Obviously the British embassy will be able to tell you a lot more and all the rules etc. The only problem i see is that sadly, i doubt your country will recognize the marriage. It would be great if you did tie the knot here, i wish you and luiza Lot's of luck.

Well if you ever wanted a big change, there's lots of workers needed in England right now, and we welcome immigration, our laws are much more relaxed here, and sexual discrimination of any kind at work is not tolerated.
Funny i have a dream about emigrating in the future, top of my list is Italy, all that beautiful sunshine. I guess the grass is always greener on the other side, as thay say

ITALY No legal recognition for same-sex partners that is applicable at national level. However, a number of cities and some regions have made available their Registered Cohabitation registry to same-sex and different sex partners indiscriminately. These registrations tend to be mainly symbolic and offer very few legal consequences. ENGLAND The Civil Partnership Act 2004, opened 'civil partnerships' exclusively to same-sex partners as of 5 December 2005. This Act gives same-sex partners the same rights and responsibilities as marriage. In fact, among other rights, civil partners are entitled to the same property rights; exemption on inheritance tax; social security and pension benefits; parental responsibility for the partner's children; responsibility for reasonable maintenance of one's partner and children; tenancy rights; full life insurance recognition; and next-of-kin rights in hospitals. And for anyone interested in "your" country and what you can (or cannot) do, here are two links where you can check on the legality of same-sex relationships. So everyone can feel free to check out your own country... http://tinyurl.com/cp32q8 http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Categor...ips_by_country And here's a general Wikipedia entry about same-sex unions that might help as well... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Same-sex_marriage |
