Hockey

It sounded like he'd had enough of all the novice crap his English colleague was churning out, and he'd left the commentary box and gone to the bar.

For all I know it was probably the Englishman's first week describing hockey games.

If they use him for the final it will be a disaster.

I feel your pain, dauls. You should hear some north americans trying to describe a football (soccer) game. In short, the commentary is usually a disaster.

Yep, too true.

Only thing is I'm relieved I've never heard an Englishman cover baseball. We'd all be phoning/e-mailing the stadium/TV company to explain the game to him. He'd make Joe Morgan look good.

That's the best laugh I've had all day.

Nothing can make Joe Morgan's commentary look good.

He comes across as a nice guy, but when I first heard him commentate he knew less (only just, got in there before you could) about the game than I did.

How does Jon Miller survive working next to him?

Lots and lots of liquid courage.

(And you're lucky that you made the comment about yourself before I did.)

Pronger called for Holding? I guess he wanted to give the Russian fellow a hug before the game was finished.

Joe Morgan knows more about baseball than most of the other announcers put together, the problem is he talks down to everybody as if they know nothing. He is an absolute bore to listen to and I can't stand him. I almost never watch Sunday Night Baseball because of him. Jon Miller is a much better radio announcer than TV. He talks too much on TV.

Oh and Finland is ahead 1 to 0 with 5:30 to go. Great goal tending on both sides.

It is over!

The Canadian women have captured Olympic gold! They beat the US 2-0 for their third straight gold medal.

Congratulations ladies!

Well done. I knew it would be a close game.

Good game, and a deserved win. But no one could score on powerplays. It was predictable that the Canadians would open the scoring soon after surviving that first 5-on-3. The Canadian goalie had a really good game.

Their post match boozing and smoking on the ice was bound to upset the IOC suits. I suppose they'd have gotten away with just drinking champagne, but 6-packs and cigars was going too far.
