Sit or stand while peeing?

I try to avoid public restrooms. Sitting on a public toilet is icky, but what's the alternative? Standing there and splashing all over your legs?

In a lot of gay clubs where I know everybody, I'll just go in the men's room and use the urinal. I usually get some big smiles from the boys.
