 With regards to the Prince Fielder signing, I don't think that Detroit would have signed him had Victor Martinez not had a long-term injury. I think it's telling that it took so long to sign him, and that many teams did not want to sign him for the long term like he wanted(plus, his Agent is Scott Boras, one who is widely despised in the MLB). I think that Detroit overpaid him. While he will more than likely have a few good seasons, I don't think he'll be good for them long-term.
