That fish looks like a sockeye salmon that had been swimming upstream to its spawning grounds. I've never seen a live sockeye (I don't live anywhere near the west coast) so I can't really say how big they get. The picture does look like there is more than a little photoshopping with it.

Rachel, if you want to catch some really big freshwater fish you should come to my area of the continent. I'll show you where you can catch 30 lb plus Lake Trout as well as huge Northern Pike and Muskellunge.
