Yes, it is amazing that so many transsexuals have troubles finding a good man when one considers the amount of guys with an attraction :-) Oh well...
By my personal definition the term "transsexual" defines a person who identifies as the other gender than he/she was born.
"Shemale" is a popular phrase that indicates a transsexual woman with both female and male organs - usually breast implants and penis.
"Ladyboy" is primarily a term (also popular) referring to Asian transgendered women.
Both "shemale" and "ladyboy" seem derogatory to many Western transsexuals who tie them in with the porn industry whereas the terms are used openly in Asia with no antagonism.
In general trans-terminology is a bit confused and subject to personal interpretations. Wikipedia has some pretty fine articles on the matter, though. I learned a lot there.
