Crysis beats GTA (and Bioshock, and Halo, and The Darkness, and EVERY shooter/action game you've seen). But you need a PC to play it, not a burnt 360 or a useless PS3.
No, seriously, if you have a powerful (REALLY powerful) PC you should try it, it's just awesome, in my opinion the best game of the decade (the 90's were for Ocarina Of Time)
