Magnets only have two poles, if we are talking about gender identity that doesn't scan. And if we're talking of attraction / repulsion what about all the vagaries in the toing and froing, all the points inbetween, it's not always as polarised as 'she loves me, she loves me not, she loves me, she loves me not'.
