The weird thing about this is that the Baldur's Gate series for the PC is nothing like the games from the PS2. The PC games are full-blown RPGs while the PS2 games are, as you said, like Torchlight(as well as Titan Quest and Diablo, two other great games!).
I played Dark Alliance a few times at a friend's house a while back. While they are two totally different animals, both the PC and PS2 games were entertaining. The Dark Alliance games had great graphics to boot!
