Another argument for an NHL that includes no teams in places where hockey cannot be played outdoors on a regular basis as the result of natural conditions.
Back in the mid-19th century, we should have freed the slaves and then let the South secede anyway, in anticipation of the lack of hockey enthusiasm down there.
(Of course, my family was busy gearing up for a different civil war in another part of the world, some decades later.)
