Their post match boozing and smoking on the ice was bound to upset   the IOC suits. I suppose they'd have gotten away with just drinking champagne, but 6-packs and cigars was going too far.

As was said by one of the Canadian hockey players, if it had been the men who had done it there would have been a heck of a lot less hooplah about it. It was not a big deal to me, but of course the IOC will overreact.
