According to a report over at AIN'T IN COOL NEWS, Davies has moved to Los Angeles and has been hired -- yes, wait for it because this might upset some of you -- to oversee and run licensed AMERICAN version of both Doctor Who and Torchwood, to be launched here on American TV in the near future. Basically, he'll oversee/produce/be head writer for both shows, which will star American actors, have better budgets than the BBC ever had, and both franchises will essentially start with a brand new Day One, so as not to confuse all-new viewers.
Hey, look on the bright side:
Maybe they'll cast a better looking guy than Matt Smith this time!

This does not have very much potential to be a good series. Most series that start out as British and then get "Americanized" do not turn out well. 'My Own Worst Enemy' starring Christian Slater is an example. Having Davies oversee it could make it even more unlikely to be successful. Part of Doctor Who's charm is the less-than-perfect sets that the show employs.
I will give this a chance, but I don't think it will do overly well.
