My mum was a Manilow fan and her car was full of his tapes. Everywhere she drove, she played his  tapes on a non-stop rotation.
She used to think I didn't like my grandparents. I loved them, it was the Manilow torture on the drive over and drive back I couldn't take.
I was so happy when I could afford to buy myself a cheap walkman (not a Sony) and limit the torture to the gaps between the tracks on the tapes I was listening to, The Rolling Stones, The Beatles, The Police, Madness, The Jam, etc. |
Guess i was lucky my mom played groups like Cheap Trick, Rolling Stones, Beatles and the Kinks
