Certainly the earliest and perhaps the most influential movie for me was “The World According to Garp.”  Although only 10 or 11 when it was released, I saw it on video as a teenager.  John Lithgow’s portrayal of transsexual “Roberta Muldoon” (a 6’4” former football player… 

) was nominated for an Academy Award.  Although it has been many years since I saw “Garp,” what I recall most is that Roberta seemed like a real person and not a caricature.  In the story she becomes Robin Williams’ best friend.  Does anyone remember this movie?
