Default Garp

Certainly the earliest and perhaps the most influential movie for me was “The World According to Garp.” Although only 10 or 11 when it was released, I saw it on video as a teenager. John Lithgow’s portrayal of transsexual “Roberta Muldoon” (a 6’4” former football player… ) was nominated for an Academy Award. Although it has been many years since I saw “Garp,” what I recall most is that Roberta seemed like a real person and not a caricature. In the story she becomes Robin Williams’ best friend. Does anyone remember this movie?
