Threads are merged when appropriate, however mods and admin cannot spend all day everyday on this site. We do have lives beyond this site.
The search function is not hard to use. There is a search feature on each page at the top right corner of the light green ribbon. Depending on where one is on the site it is possible to search a the site, a particular forum, or a particular thread. There are limitations to the search feature in that each search term must be at least 4 letters.
