Your Favorite Term ??

What term do you noramlly use ?

Shemale

Ladyboy

Tranny

Transexual

I prefer shemale, i think this term covers the whole spectrum

How about you ? and why ?

sexchannel 06-13-2009 07:29 AM

No opinions ?

cham 06-14-2009 07:36 PM

I don't think we can call ladyboys 'shemales,' and vice versa, so we perhaps need more than one term.

Well.. you asked..

Here is my personal take

Shemale - Coined in the porn industry and as such reduces me to a fetish and not a real actual person.

Ladyboy - You'd have to ask a Thai trans woman. Westerners who apply this to non-Thai's have no clue.

Tranny - Of the group, the only one I'd be really OK with someone using.

Transexual - It is clinical, implies a goal of having surgery, and places too much emphasis on what's happening with the body.

I use t-girl, but my favorite is she. How do you feel about using she?

T be honest,I liked the term shemale, until I realized that those it was being used to refer to did not. I don't like using terms others find offensive. Ladyboy sounds cool but is only used to describe a certain group. Transexual, as already stated by Bionca is too clinical. Tranny, to me sounds cutsey....so, I guess that would be my choice. Oh, and t-girl, that's a good one too.

sexchannel 06-15-2009 12:09 AM

Thanks for honest answers , i guess because some of this is sexual fantasy perhaps the term that adds to your fantasy might be the best for each individual ?

Also i think the person who is perhaps the shemale/tranny has a different take on the whole matter and therefore has a whole other way of looking at the 'labels' that are given to them

I dont think any right or wrong , just individual choice i guess

Happy to agree that transexual does sound clinical though

hankhavelock 06-15-2009 12:34 AM

I use them all dependent on with whom I talk... regarding "tranny" I can use it teasingly with my friends: "Awww, come here, my sweet little tranny-darling..." or stuff like that, but I would get insulted (on behalf of my friends) if it was used by "outsiders".

franalexes 06-15-2009 08:39 AM

I don't mind what title as long as your thoughts don't degrade me. But why do I need a title? 99% of the time it should not matter to you. If you can keep your eyes off my tits, look me in the face and don't call me late for dinner.

Trans -Semantics

I like "shemale" as a general term, But I guess its accepted use refers to girls in the porn industry.
To me, its a natural-sounding word that simply refers to the third sex, as in male, female and shemale, a blending of the two. (of course you could further break it down to MtF or FtM.)
I use "shemale" here usually since 99% of the models we post are professional.

I like "t-girl" too, a shortened version of transgendered, which seems to be the most accurate and sounds good too.
I've never used "tranny", I always thought it sounded a little disrespectful.
"Ladyboy"...never use it, refers to a specific group, don't like the way it sounds that much.

In real life I just call someone "he" or "she" according to how they want to be addressed. (or how their appearance would suggest that I address them)

In her inimitable way, Fran has pointed to the uselessness of the question asked in the first place. I truly do not understand this obsession with labels?!?!

Jenae LaTorque 06-19-2009 06:29 PM

I myself like the term Tgirl. It is the one I use most of the time. T lady is also good if it fits. Miriam, Vanity, Renee Reyes and some others come to mind for that term.

Favorite Term

Actually, my favorite "term" is not listed in the poll! I prefer "T-Girl"...don't know why...it just sort of rolls off the tongue easily.

I never use "Tranny", but a good friend of mine who is "transitioning" calls herself a "Tranny" when she is "joking around" with friends and acquaintences.

NCC-1701 06-19-2009 08:15 PM

Its quite strange really, where I live, the mension of a Tgirl is usually in some stupid insult or something like that, and i have come to think of the word Tranny as an insult, But I guess its different for other people. I thought shemale was the accepted word, but since My love for Tgirls has come up more i can see it doesnt seem to be. I am confused!! (because I like Tgirls so much, I am even wondering about telling one of my closest freinds, who I can trust with any secret. Plus, she is into gay/yaoi porn/fanfic, so she should be happy that I am willing to give a Tgirl a nice suck!!)

Hermestg 06-20-2009 10:06 PM

In Brazil the expression "Travesti" is common, the different one of the connotation of other countries. But, the expression enters many admirers T-Girl is very used, or T-Gata in Portuguese.

Ps.: They forgive my english...

s10ga 06-20-2009 10:13 PM

i just use shemale dude to its popularty. but i apply ladyboy to asian women

lacey_maxie 11-18-2009 06:23 PM

Tranny....

I like the term tranny as I regard myself as a tranny:inlove:

DoryLee 11-19-2009 06:34 AM

I'm fine with shemale. Porn-related or not.

british_boy 11-19-2009 02:46 PM

I think it's up to the girls to decide, not the guys. Your favourite word for black people might be n***r, but unless you were a racist or completely stupid, you would never address someone as such (unless perhaps you were black yourself and reclaiming the word). Think this is a stupid comparison? Some girls find "shemale" equally offensive, due to similar degrading connotations.

my girlfriend hates "shemale" and "ladyboy", but she likes "TS" or "T-girl" or often just "girl". I sometimes call her "tranny" for a joke, but she knows I have a twinkle in my eye when I say it.

By the way, "transsexual" has a double S.

CuriousMattUK 11-20-2009 06:25 AM

I'd usually say Shemale and refer to Asians as Ladyboys. I think tranny sounds the hottest though.

The_Void 11-20-2009 08:37 AM

If I'm talking about porn then I say shemale or t-girl. I use t-girl, transsexual or transgender in "real life".

most things in life have some form of title, whether we like them or not , i like the term shemale , so far most do , i understand depending what side of the coin you are on has something to do with it, good thing about life is we all have the right to an opinion

connie 11-25-2009 05:04 PM

label

It is a suprisingly tough question, I prefer her, she, or just my name.

I agree in theory, that opinions are important to acknowledge. However, when addressing or talking about someone, don't you think it is appropriate to use terms that the person wishes to be used?

One would especially think that insulting a group of folks you theoretically want to impress would be counter productive. In this particular case, "Shemale" has a history beyond porn. It is not a very good history.

To be honest, I'd never date a guy who called me a "shemale", used that word in a personal ad, or dropped it in casual conversation. I'm positive I'm not alone.

Travesty: A false, derisive, or impudent imitation of something: burlesque, caricature, farce, mock, mockery, parody, sham.

There's a thin line between the ridculous and the sublime, I don't sweat much being called man, dude, or guy, I think most guys come here first to look at the pictures. Who knew there were rules? For me it's not about respect or clarity or truth, it's more about having my pants down around my ankles. Ridiculous and Sublime. I've had lots of derogatory nicknames, from my friends no less!!
On the practical side, I do stumble alot when it comes to choosing the correct term on this site. It would be nice to have a name that didn't offend anyone. There are other crossdressing sites that won't stand for any pornography or disrespect, this site here is wide open. Like a Comedy Roast.

Does that mean you'd date any guy who didn't call you a shemale? How many guys do you date in a year? Face it, girl, we're all alone.

Nope, I wouldn't date a guy just because he didn't use "shemale". Using the word, though, is a really good filter. using it in a non-porn setting or in a personal add is one sure way to get me to skip over. I have limited time and I don't see those dudes as a good return on investment. Like if they haven't thought enough to figure out that trans women largely don't like that word, then there are valid questions about how serious they actually are.

sexchannel 11-27-2009 09:54 PM

please note it is just a general question/poll , you have to remember for some it is just sexual fantasy , and if that is the case i dont think it harms to have an image/idea/fantasy in your mind as to what you want to refer your fantasy as , but as i said i do understand if you are choosing to live your life as a woman i do understand you may prefer certain terms above others

simple for me i find the term shemale suits my fantasy , it is possible different countries have different views , i am in australia and tend to think of a tranny in a simular way i think of drag queen , i just feel the term shemale is more feminine , so in my neck of the woods i am saying the term to me means more female than the term tranny or say drag queen , as i said we all have a right to an opinion so there is no real correct or incorrect , just a personal preference ....... pagging masaya ka ( philippine for being happy you)

alice 11-28-2009 09:46 PM

I prefer T-Lady or T-Ladies, for me I think it sounds respectful and not degrading.

nadiecomoyo 11-30-2009 12:06 AM

I prefer Tranny, and Ladyboy but this i think is for the asian tranny, only.
