forget superpowers what device would you pick?

If you could have a real working verson of a futureristic device which would you pick? a working lightsaber? or a working phaser? a X-WING fighter?, Id be torn between KITT from KNIGHT RIDER and a TARDIS both would be cool imagine walking out of the mall and having your car drive it's self to pick you up after talking into your watch plus having tubro boost and just jumping over a slow moving bozo or having a working TARDIS and being able to go anywere or anytime. Gawd i need to get some sleep  Jennifer

I'd want one of those hand devices used by Ra in the Stargate movie; either that or Samus Arans Power Suit. Also Thors hammer Mjolnir.

Time And Relative Dimensions In Space

As much as i would love a lightsaber ... I must choose a TARDIS. I mean the opportunity to travel through time and space is just incredible. Plus think of how much space you would have inside! ;)

TracyCoxx 06-01-2009 07:54 AM

Yeah the Tardis would have to be #1. Everything else pales in comparison.

Plus free in every TARDIS ... A Sonic Screwdriver!

Now that's an easy one... I would have a Green Lantern ring! You know, Green Lantern, the DC comic character? His ring basically makes real absolutely ANYTHING you can imagine... object, weapon, place, even people I think! I'm sure there are some limitations and vulnerabilities (I seem to remember something about yellow light being a weakness), but I'm not entirely sure what they are... anyone else know?

The Yellow Impurity

Green Lanterns had a weakness against anything yellow. Their rings could not affect anything yellow and yellow bullets would pass through their shields. It was caused by Parralax , an evil alien entity that spread fear and weakness. The guardians sealed it in the main power battery on OA. But it was released during the Emerald Twilight story arc when Hal Jordan went postal and absorbed almost all the energy in the battery and Parralax fused w/ him. A GL who has no fear is not affected by yellow. +10to geek

Ah... 27 gold stars for you Rockabilly lol! So I was sort of close... and even in light of that revelation, I'll stick with the Green Lantern ring, on account of its amazing versatility :)

Every TARDIS doesn't come with a sonic screwdriver as that was a device created by the second DR in 'FURY FROM THE DEEP' Jennifer

Hi Jen, I meant the drink - Vodka + Blue Gatorade = Sonic Screwdriver :) I would like to think that somewhere in my TARDIS would be a sonic screwdriver or laser screwdriver ... maybe a plasmic awl. :p

rockabilly 06-01-2009 04:32 PM

Yup ... Give it a try ... :)

I know not of this "Tardis" of which you speak... sounds kind of "Dr. Who"ish..??? (sorry I do plead ignorance where Dr. Who is concerned)
I would choose "transporter" technology or a teleportation device. No mucking about in traffic, no having to dick with the airlines..just instantaneous poof and your there. Sounds like the Tardis is the same except with an added dimension of time...
Well fuck the transporter in that case!!!
Is the Tardis portable?

rockabilly 06-01-2009 06:13 PM

The TARDIS is the Doctors spaceship/time machine. It's bigger on the inside than it looks on the outside. From outward appearances it looks like a '50's era London Police Phone Box , but once inside it is massive ... check the wiki for full specs and information.

I would have to choose the tardis too, although the whole phone booth thing is kinda goofy lookin, but i guess thats the point, no one is going to want to go into some weird looking telephone booth. Other than that I would have to choose MJOLINIR battle armor, not Thor's hammer but the armor worn by Halo's SPARTAN II's. Preferrably Mark VII.

Those would be :censored:awesome.

My pick would have to be Batman's belt. I mean he has everything you could ever need packed in that belt.

Great question, T.J.! After a few days of pondering your queiry (is that spelled correctly?), I think the perfect device for me would be a 1958 Plymouth Sport Fury. Condition?...any! Colour?...red! Mileage?...irrelevant!

She was a tad "jealous", yes. No problem for me, though..."Im in love with my car". You think I should go with a Chrysler LeBaron convertible instead? Maybe Jon Voight's?

One of the best things about John Carpenter's "Christine",......."NO FUCKING CGI's"! You know, I think it qulifies as a "Cult Film"! What do you think?

rockabilly 06-03-2009 05:28 AM

Christine was and still is a great film. Didn't she come back in the book? Cujo was good too. Sorry off topic.
