And don't forget to mention the most annoying :censored: character that has ever been introduced to cinema viewers...JarJar Binks! Argh!!!!!!

It?s incredible how difficult Lucas made it, to get a classical epic movie in the Original version on DVD. I think it?s only available in the Limited Edition of Star Wars.

Back then, the Ewoks were not the best idea, but Jar Jar Binks and the whole Gungan race tops that easily.

One of the signs of a truly great artist is knowing when to quit.

It's a shame that he couldn't stop there!

Another try to get the bridge to newer movies:
Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull

I actually enjoyed the newest Indiana Jones movie. Alot of other people that I talked to said it was too unrealistic; the whole "aliens" and shit.

As if powerful mystical Bible ornaments are more believable than that... :frown:

I had no problem with the alien subject (in fits in that time), and for it self it wasn?t a too bad movie, but compared to the first three, and the way it was done, I was totally disappointed.
It has not the charm of the others.
They said they use only very few CGI effects that it looks like the prequels, and if they wanted they could make realistic looking CGIs. But in the movie were so many and cheesy effects.
For me it doesn?t reach the quality of the Indy movies.

E.G. ?Live Free Or Die Hard? was a worthy sequel, not the best out of the four but worthy. Indy 4 not.

Yeah, the 4th Indy didn't have the charm as you put it, like the other three. But it wasn't that bad...

If they make the last 3 parts of the Star Wars saga, 1) George Lucas should not direct it, 2) there should be way less focus on graphics and more on story and 3) they should bring back Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher, Mark Hamill and Billy Dee Williams(although from what I've seen, Carrie and Billy are a bit off their rockers...)

I will post later what I would like to see of the last three parts of the saga if it ever comes into fruitition.

The key to a Star Wars movie being great is that it has to follow the formula of a Western, with strong characters. That's why the first movie was so good, and why none of the others -- even the good ones -- came close. IMHO

Can?t say much to this, I find Star Wars (IV:frown:) awesome, but I never was a Western fan except the ones with the legendary Bud Spencer & Terence Hill.

Can't leave out the influence Akira Kurosawa's The Hidden Fortress had on Lucas while creating Star Wars.

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0051808/

Akira Kurosawa also directed another movie called Seven Samurai,

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0047478/

which then gave us The Magnificent Seven.

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0054047/

Akira Kurosawa, one of the greatest filmmakers off all-time.

Thanks, km1, for the Kurosawa mention. Definitely, he influenced Lucas both directly and indirectly.

Yeah, I felt it was a bit of a misfire, looked promising but just didn't work out how it should've.

The best recent film I've seen recently (not sure if it's even been released in North America yet) is United Red Army from Japan:

Ninja Assassin

Well we finally got to rent the ninja movie. It was really good except for one thing... the blood spattering was a bit excessive. No one bleeds that much.

Just saw Kickass and Defendor. Both are very good movies. I like Nicholas Cage's character in Kickass!
