Yeah, that was the part I was talking about(although a few arms were totally broken off as well). I think a lot of people wanted them for their collectability and did not want a broken item(since the CE was pretty darned expensive). The drill on mine is intact, but I still left it in the package as well. It is sitting on top on the shelving around my television in my front room.:respect:

rockabilly 01-05-2010 05:38 PM

I was dissapointed w/ the Fable C CE.

Originally it was gonna have a Hobbe statuette , Tarot Cards , and the Halo Armor dlc and extra arcade games.

When it came out all it had was the dlc and a different cover sleeve and making of dvd.

LAME , as they maintained all the stuff was included untill 3 weeks before launch.

I heard about that. Was it like that everywhere, or just in certain parts of the world(I know that sometimes the European versions of CE vary from the US or Canadian ones)?

Wouldn't that be a pisser if they released a Fable 2 CE for the PC and it had all the extras that were originally listed as goodies for the XBox version?

rockabilly 01-05-2010 07:46 PM

As far as i know they removed all the physical items from all releases and just did the dlc bonuses. :(

When Fable 2 comes to pc it will more than likely just be the game and all the dlc expansions.

You're probably correct. I don't think they would want to alienate any of the fans who bought the game for the Xbox 360, and doing something like that would be a good way to do it.

Personally, I would be happy if Fable 2 came to the PC period(with DLC added, of course).:)

rockabilly 01-05-2010 08:02 PM

I'm sure it will , i bet it will come out when the platinum hits version for X-Box goes on sale .... or just after.

Should be soon , Fable 2 is over a year old now.

They have to sell over a million copies first.
With work already begun on Fable 3 which will be much bigger .... You've beaten the bad guy saved the world and been crowned King , now what ? In Fable 3 the ending is only the begining , now comes bigger decisions .... do you go to war w/ neighboring countries , raise taxes , rebuild your cities or build a bigger castle ... be careful or the people will revolt.

It sounds ambitious and like a rts hybrid.

That's Peter Moleyneaux's biggest problem , he talks about what he'd like to put in the game but when they program it they realize it was too ambitpious.

He makes alot of promises about gameplay and a.i. but it fails to live up to the hype. Don't get me wrong Fable 1 and 2 are good games and fun to play but he really needs to wait until later in the development period before doing interviews.

There was a big interview with him in that issue of Games magazine I told you about earlier. It is 4 or 5 pages in length and he talks about Fable 3 a LOT.

rockabilly 01-05-2010 09:11 PM

Ok i just went to Gamestop's web site , Fable 2 greatest hits w/ dlc is $30 now.

But no word on a pc release. Maybe you should save up and get an X-Box 360.

Unfortunately, I don't have time to play on two different systems(my Gamecube is basically just collecting dust as it is). Maybe if I see a cheap one at a garage sale or something I'll get one.

rockabilly 01-05-2010 09:20 PM

Be careful not to buy a busted one.

The red ring of death is still a problem for older systems.

The newer systems have a better motherboard and larger heat sinks so the red ring of death is hopefully in the past.

It's the biggest design flaw since that exhaust port on the Death Star.

I've heard many tales of the red ring of death(overheating? How could something that big get through quality control? Oh wait a sec...it's Microsoft and it was Christmas...all they cared about was selling as many units as possible for the Christmas bonanza). Isn't there a lawsuit going on with regards to that problem?

Was it the regular XBox that had the problem, or was it both the XBox and XBox 360? You would think the system would have went belly up due to people no longer buying one of those systems(especially since Microsoft originally said there was no problem), but I guess the buyers wanted that system.

rockabilly 01-05-2010 09:44 PM

I never heard of original X-Box overheating problems but the 360 was just rushed out.

People really love their X-Boxes , Halo had alot to do w/ creating a loyal fan base.

My original X-Box was a launch system and never once had any problems , i traded it in to get a 360 and had no problems w/ it ... then i traded it in because i wanted the Halo limited edition console.

I still don't own a PS3 but honestly , w/ my 360 and Wii and my PS2 i don't need one.

Will Heavy Rain change your mind?;)

I'm glad that you were lucky with regards to working XBoxes.:)

rockabilly 01-06-2010 01:57 AM

Heavy Rain , and a $200 or less PS3. lol

And thanks , i've been lucky when it comes to buying consoles.

The only one i had any trouble w/ was my PS2. It kept getting disc read errors , so i had to get a new one ... but that was years ago.

shadows 01-06-2010 05:29 AM

The system that I had the most trouble with were my C64's(I ended up with more than one). I cannot remember how many times the games would not work in certain machines, yet would work in others. I got Knights of Legend for Christmas, and it kept on crashing the C64(combat could take upwards of a half hour or more and it would sometimes crash midway in combat. Needless to say I never finished the game)! Some games would load fine, and others would not read at all and the machine's red light would flash on and off constantly. Yet I would try the game in a different one and it would work. They were quite finicky.

rockabilly 01-06-2010 12:37 PM

Remember the old "blow on the cartridge" trick w/ the NES ? lol

If it wouldn't load just blow it and shove it back in (did that sound dirty?) lol

Sounds dirty for sure, but it worked wonders! I don't know how many times a NES game(of which I still have a bunch of over in my parent's basement) would end up working after using that trick. They sure were dust-magnets, weren't they?;)

rockabilly 01-06-2010 05:23 PM

But they were very durable. I still have both Legend of Zelda gold carts.

But i have all the Zelda games on a Gamecube disc.

I don't think I have that Gamecube one. It has every single Zelda game up to that point? How many are there in total(I may try to find it, as I have a Gamecube), and what are the names of the games?

I am almost certain that if I took out the NES that it would still work and so would all the games. A good system with a ton of excellent games.:respect:

rockabilly 01-06-2010 05:54 PM

It has ...
1. The Legend of Zelda
2. Zelda 2 - Link's Awakening
3. The Legend of Zelda - Ocarina of Time
4. The Legend of Zelda - Majora's Mask

and a demo of The Legend of Zelda - The Wind Waker

I had hoped for the SNES Legend of Zelda but since they had just made it for the GBA they didn't put it on the compilation disc.

There were 2 ways to get it either subscribe to Nintendo Power or buy a Gamecube that had it packed in as a freebie. I bought an extra Gamecube and gave my old one away.

If you are uncertain by what I mean by teabag them, just google it. There are some Youtube videos of people doing that in video games! Hilarious!

I just found out that you need a fucking hard drive to import your mass effect save to the new mass effect. This is just fucking great. I spent 40 fucking hours playing a game trying to put my own touch to it for the new game and its all wasted because I don't have a damn hard drive.

I'm going to get the game anyways, but I guarantee bioware will make shitty decisions for me and I will be stuck with Ashley being my live interest while Wrex is fucking killed etc. ME2 became just another game as its certainly not the same if your decisions are made for you. The least Bioware couldve done was fucking give you an option list at the very beginning of this new game so I could make the major decisions over again.

I'm tired of the electronics industry making people feel like they must be rich to enjoy shit. Everything is so goddamn expensive and still the gaming industry thinks that everybody has a hard drive or make games clearly focusing on online play even though many gamers don't have wifi. Just going by personal experience, many gamers aren't these rich people with every damn hookup ever. Its why there is a huge underground pirate community, because many gamers can't afford 60 bucks a damn game.

Sorry for the rant, but I really despise this kind of shit.

I understand your frustration, jdawg, but perhaps they will let you choose your characters at the beginning of Mass Effect 2? I'll admit that I have not followed any of the media regarding ME2, so I don't know if that is feasible or not.

I'm assuming that this is just a factor for the console version?:(

rockabilly 01-14-2010 03:56 AM

That does suck , and Wrex probably is dead if you don't import him since a new Krogan is introduced in the game.

That's one reason i wait on price drops. I have a harddrive w/ my 360 but very little storage space on it. It will only get worse though as the next generation of consoles could be download only systems. :(

You may be able to buy used 360 harddrives at local game stores since alot of people bought larger ones and transferred their stuff onto the bigger drive.

shadows 01-14-2010 03:46 PM

I am glad that I don't have to deal with that on the PC.:(

Of course, that isn't necessarily true either. I remember in the expansion pack for Neverwinter Nights 2(the expansion was called Mask Of The Betrayer) some of the characters were killed at the end of the game(which cheesed me off)! There was one in particular that I was really fond of that was one of the killed-off characters! I won't say who it is as I don't want to spoil anyone(I highly recommend both games!).

jdawg 01-16-2010 10:18 PM

So apparently there will be an opening scene to ME2 for those new to th game so they can make decisions from the first game to create a background story going into the new game. Sounds good and I'm willing to bet its in the game because many fans don't have a hard drive and can't import a character.

The first reviews have come out and apparently this game is an awesome cover shooter. One review said it actually beat most cover shooters and only fell short of Gears and COD. Could you imagine Mass Effect having such an amazing storyline with the gameplay of top shooters? This might be the best game ever if that's the case.

Red Dead Redemption seems to be in trouble. Apparently thwy have a budget of a $100m and will need to sell 5 million copies just to break even. Plus, the game seems to be a mess. This would suck if the game was bad. I was hoping it would bring the western genre into the mainstream.

Apparently decisions you make in Mass Effect 2 can cause any character to perish, including Commander Shepard! That is pretty intense!

This tidbit of information can be found in the February 2010 issue of PC Gamer.;)

jdawg 01-17-2010 11:53 AM

I was reading the bioware forums and the thinking was that if you just go throuth the main story, you're while team is probably going to die. I'm guessing that if you go theough the main story and do a healthy amount of side missions, then you'd be fine.

The pc gamer makes it out to be that if you make one wrong decision, you could be screwed. If that's the case, I think most of the people will die. That oughta sell a few guides to go with the game.

rockabilly 01-17-2010 12:21 PM

You would think that a GTA style game in the old west is a no brainer.

Gun was ok but way to linnear same w/ Red Dead Revolver. I hope the game does well since good Western games are rare.

You could be right. It wouldn't be the first time that an event was hyped and then it turned out to be something totally different.

jdawg 01-18-2010 07:18 PM

:Spoiler Alert:

So there's this video that shows Legion being carried by Shepard and Legion also running towards the Normandy in another scene. Who is Legion? Legion is a geth that has evolved and is smart. Apparently he follows you around and there's been a ton of speculation that he might be a squad member. If he is running towards the Normandy, I think we can guess that he will be a squad member.

I have the new oxm and have read the review. Here's the highlights.

There is no Mako. Instead of that crappy vehicle you get this shuttle that drops you off at an important point of the planet.

The characters are amazing. They liked your squad members and each character has a long history. The missions involving the characters are very good and some don't end well.

Scanning planets is boring. So you can now scan planets, but its boring. It does look futuristic though which is cool.

No more looting. Now you can build your gear using the lab. You don't get to hack into crates and stuff. I don't mind it, but many might.
Overall it sounds amazing.

rockabilly 01-20-2010 02:20 AM

Awww you didn't like the Mako?

I loved using it to ram enemies and jump on top of them and jumping oncoming enemy lasers. lol

jdawg 01-20-2010 04:17 PM

The controls were difficult and made it a pain to drive. I loved ramming enemies though and climbing to the top of mountains and jumping to the bottom.

Apparently they have a new vehicle that comes with the free dlc. I need to find a friend with a computer so I can download this stuff.

rockabilly 01-20-2010 06:18 PM

I found it easier to handle than Halo's Warthog.

jdawg 01-20-2010 06:23 PM

F:censored:king pirates are why the PC market sucks so bad right now and we get a lot of shitty console ports. Also, it is a reason why we cannot exchange our PC games like the console gamers can.:no::censored:

As for Brink, I have never heard about it before. What is it about?

rockabilly 01-21-2010 01:09 PM

Piracy sucks.

shadows 01-21-2010 01:21 PM

Yeah, and I don't really see how it can improve anytime soon. The PC game makers(or distributors, whoever places the copy protection on it) try many forms of copy protection to curtail piracy and they are just not working! I do NOT like DRM on my games as it affects my CD player. Also, games(Spore, for example) have the "best" forms of DRM currently available and yet they are released on torrents before the freaking game is even released!

Why should I, as a loyal customer who purchases all my games, be screwed over by overbearing DRM that affects my computer when the pirates themselves just circumvent said DRM and play the game hassle-free? It just pisses off the customer, and some of them may decide to just give up playing games on the PC and buy a console instead.

Something needs to be done, but the current way they are going about things is certainly NOT effective.

One thing I think they CAN do to slow down piracy is make good games that are not full of bugs when they are released. Too many times they rush a release before the game is even finished and the gamer is the one who gets screwed over. A patch being released a day after the release is unacceptable. A patch being released to fix balancing issues or other things like that(which may not be caught during playtesting) or a rare bug or two is fine, but to have the game in an unplayable state(a bug that causes something to happen that makes the game unable to be completed) upon release is UNACCEPTABLE!! Wake up publishers and developers!

rockabilly 01-21-2010 01:46 PM

Not only that but the gamemakers worked hard to create that game and get screwed by the pirates ....*just had a mental flash of a pirate nerd orgy* .... uh where was i , piracy sucks.

jdawg 01-21-2010 04:12 PM

Brink is about global warming and you were part of this utopia and are probably the last people alive in the world. Food supplies are dwindling which is always going to create conflict. There are plenty of gameplay videos in youtube. It looks amazing.

As for The Old Republic, I don't play any of the MMO games so I won't be giving it a shot. It looks pretty good, though.

jdawg 01-23-2010 01:04 PM

Today I finally figured out that you should never trust online information until a game comes out. As you guys know I have no hard drive which makes importing a character in ME2 impossible. I pre ordered my game because I thought you get to make the ME1 decisions at the beginning. Wrong. They give you stupid default decisions that literally were the opposite of every decision I made. Let's take a look at these decisions.

Ashley was your romance and Kaiden is dead. I had Kaiden saved and Liara as a romance.

UDINA! Is a council member. I had Captain Anderson as the council member. Who the fuck would ever pick Udina?

Wrex is dead. I had him saved on Virmire.

I can handle Wrex dying, but everything else sucks. This is so disappointing.

rockabilly 01-23-2010 01:09 PM

Udina is a giant douche!

Was it possible to get two love interests?

I got both girls in Jade Empire , cause i got skillz ... mad dialogue playaz. lol

You can try and get both, but only Liara will fall in love with you. I tried to get both in my first playthrough and they both come up to you and say "choose one of us". Ashley was not too pleased that I told her to go away haha.

rockabilly 01-23-2010 06:18 PM

I had that happen lol , how about the Quarrian girl ... can you get her as an interest?

That would be .... different.

jdawg 01-23-2010 08:53 PM

Apparently, you can have Tali as a love interest in ME2. I read somewhere that she takes off her mask, but its unclear if you get to see her face. I heard that her and Miranda were the 2 female love interests. Also you can stick to the original. Since I'm stuck with Ashley, there's no way I'm not picking a new love interest.

Too bad there wasn't a way(without the hard drive option) to just choose which characters you want to "continue" with into ME 2. By this, I mean options in the setup screens. Would that even be feasible or would it be too hard for the developers to do?

It's a shame that they chose this route with regards to characters, as Bioware is usually pretty good towards their fans.

rockabilly 01-24-2010 12:54 PM

Sorry but you need a hard drive especially since Mass Effect will be a trilogy and you can bring all your data from 1 and 2 into 3.

I deleted my first ME save and will have to replay pt 1 before i get 2 , but i'm cool w/ it since it's a great game.

Not at the same time.

Only in my first game I let it open until the temple, but didn?t get both because I thought I have to choose.

rockabilly 01-24-2010 06:25 PM

In Jade Empire if you play as a guy and reject both girls you can then choose Sky (the guy in blue) and be a gay couple.

Tread 01-24-2010 07:25 PM

After playing JE as female and getting Silk Fox, I tried it as male with sky, but for some reason never until the kiss.
I guess the scene would fade to black as the lesbian one.

There were always rumours about part 2, but I sadly doubt it will come out.
I think it hasn?t sold very well. The hardcore Bioware fans were disappointed from the role play depth, and for many others it was to far away from the mainstream settings.

jdawg 01-24-2010 11:19 PM

I was reading that the Natal is going to be a huge release. Is anybody else NOT excited for this? I will buy it, but I really hope video games don't all become like the Wii. I like controllers and really don't feel like having to move off my couch of I'm honest. It has nothing to do with laziness and everyhing to do with getting comfortable while playing a game.

I dunno, maybe I will enjoy the Natal, but for now I'd rather stick with the controller.

rockabilly 01-25-2010 02:40 AM

A Jade Empire sequel could happen after Mass Effect 3 , i hope EA doesn't get an inhouse studio to churn out a sequel since EA and Bioware are partners. Maybe Bioware would pass it to a good team and use the Mass Effect 2 game engine.

As for Natal , we will see. Add ons don't sell too well no matter how much functionality they have. My guess is it will be bundled w/ a 360 or be integrated w/the next console.

EA owns Bioware, and I hope they don?t change Bioware?s game quality to one part per year/series, or as many Add-ons as possible strategy to get the biggest volume of sales/series no matter what quality the game has or if it?s finished or not.

Natal will not be more as a nice gimmick and gaining experience in new interface usage (in my opinion).
For a real good game feeling, I think, the current real time video recognition is not developed far enough. The movement has to be conveying one to one without time loses, or a human brain will notice that something is wrong. It?s a bit like the Wii or SIXAXIS, you never feel that you have 100% control of it, because you only get visual feedback. The brain needs physical feedback and if it?s only the feeling that you pushed a button.
When the brain really has internalized a steering/controlling, the brain uses the physical feedback and treads the mouse/keyboard/controller/steering wheel as a part of the human body (like blind people feel their blindman?s stick as their extended arm and not as object), you totally forget that you have something in your hand to control the game.

But with the state of the art technique (Natal, 3D Screens) it would be possible to create a ?Minority Report? like interface witch would be cool to use.

I'll be picking up Mass Effect 2: Collector's Edition along with the CE version of the strategy guide on Thursday. It is going to end up costing about $130 after taxes(I hate tax!), but it should be worth it!:)

jdawg 01-26-2010 01:39 PM

So you CAN import a character using a memory unit. I just imported my character and am on the first mission at the colony. This game is amazing so far.

rockabilly 01-26-2010 01:47 PM

Awesome jdawg , let us know about the gameplay but please keep the spoilers to a minimum.

Yes please. I still have to play Mass Effect 1 before I can even get into ME 2.;):)

jdawg 01-26-2010 07:19 PM

I promise not to post anything about the story. I would never try and ruin a game for people.

Anyways, the combat has improved and the cover system is pretty good. You can vault over cover, but can't dive from cover spot to cover spot. It seems as though they took a lot from Gears, which is never a bad thing.

The characters are improved as well. The characters in the first game were kinds boring. The first 3 characters I encountered all seem to have a huge history which will probably make for some good character missions later in the game.

This game was worth the wait. Its visually stunning with great combat and a damn good story. Everybody should buy this!

Is anyone looking forwared to the new AVP coming out for the Xbox 360?

rockabilly 02-09-2010 02:53 PM

I look forward to stalking both colonial marines and aliens as a predator.

ts_addict 02-09-2010 08:00 PM

Red Dead Redemption looks sick. Like GTA, but set in the ol' west.

shadows 02-09-2010 08:16 PM

Picked up my CE version of Bioshock 2 today(along with the strategy guide). It looks cool.

I recently bought Hasbro Family Game Night 2 for the Wii. I have to say, playing Pictureka is insanely fun on the video format.

Wow! There was a lot of dust collecting in this thread. Thanks for giving it a Spring cleaning, Postman.:)

I recently completed the entire Bhaalspawn saga for Baldur's Gate. Starting in Baldur's Gate 1(in Candlekeep) as a weak-as-a-kitten Level 1 Fighter, I eventually evolved into a powerhouse Level 40 Fighter, able to fell Fire Giants, dragons, and other Bhaalspawn! I successfully completed the Jaheira romance(as fellow Baldur's Gate players know, it was the hardest one to complete) , and I chose the higher road at the end.

It wasn't just a game, it was an EPIC!:respect:

And the game I am currently playing? Serious Sam.

rockabilly 04-30-2010 06:12 AM

I'm playing Saints Row 2 again and now have customized my character to look like the 10th Doctor.

ME2 for the 360

Love Mass Effect 2 on the 360, lots of choices. Imported my female shepperd, but have had no luck in romance with the female characters yet. In the first, I choose Liarra. Also replaying BioShock, new content for Left4Dead 2, Arkham Asylum, Resident Evil 5, and trying to level my level 56 hunter up to 61 in Borderlands so I can kill Crawmerax. Busy busy busy. Looking forward to Red Dead Redemption.

rockabilly 04-30-2010 07:36 PM

Oh and i finished Assassins Creed 2 , i hope they do an Assassins Creed game in feudal Japan or during the Spanish Inquisition (nobody would expect that) but the concluding game should be in modern day w/ Desmond as the playable character , no Animus moments unless used to unlock new abilities or to solve puzzles.

Gamer girls ftw , I wanna dual shock her. ;)

I haven't touched my Xbox in weeks. I don't have the money to spend, but nothing has really grabbed my attention in the last couple of months.

Of course, tommorrow starts a month of AAA releases, so I'm sure I'll get back into the gaming spirit. Really looking forward to Alpha Protocol and Alan Wake.

rockabilly 05-01-2010 12:35 AM

Not even the new Splinter Cell game?

It looks awesome and i hear the co-op is amazing.

Lots of great games coming soon , Alpha Protocol , Alan Wake , Lost Planet 2 , Dead Rising 2 , Red Dead Redemption.
