 Your grandmother used to lie to your cousins, but not to you because you were good? How can you be sure that your grandmother never lied to you?

Palin

I wish Sarah would go (beck) to Alaska, have twin boys and call them Trench and Drudge.

The Conquistador 06-01-2010 06:55 PM

smc-So you wouldn't want to be dominated by a leather and metal clad Sarah Palin?

No, I would not ... thus proving that even that sex is not purely physical, but involves the brain, too. And both partners ought to have one.

Thanks, ila, for ruining my summer vacation from teaching! ;)

You are correct. In my haste, I dangled something. Now, let me get back to dangling something else. :)

My little head just knows one thing: women. That is all he is able to process. It matters not whether she is smarter than my penis. All that matters is the end product of me inside her. My penis is like a divining rod; he points me towards sources of hot, sweaty love.

Thank goodness there are men like you, then, or else the blow-up doll industry would need a federal bailout. ;) Of course, the Palin blow-up doll would refuse the money because it's "socialism."

Don't hate my Sarah Palin blow-up doll. She loves me long time. ;)

No, I think the doll would look at the money as a campaign contribution. I'm sure a tax receipt would be issued.

The Conquistador 06-02-2010 04:08 PM

No. All that bailout money would go towards me snorting coke off my blowup Sarah Palin dolls ass. I am a man of varied interests...

Well, since we were talking about a politician (Palin) and blow, I think my Marion Barry reference is more apropos. Anyone could have picked a Hollywood figure! ;)

Curses! Foiled again! Although in retrospect, Gary Busey would have been a better choice as he is the Hollywood poster child for mental instability and cocaine useage.

I only gave up because I was laughing so hard. If your hockey playing is as humourous as Postman's remarks then you will have no problem playing hockey against me. I'll be laughing too hard to do anything.

I definitely think that at my age there will be something "as humourous as Postman's remarks" in my hockey playing. It will be my hockey playing.

Maybe we should just go talk about it over a beer instead.

My gripe isn't with the names per se, it is with the parents who name them that because they think it is a "cute" name to name their baby. C'mon! You are naming a future adult, not a baby. The name should fit the person that is going to have it. Aiden is a manly Irish name only if your son grows up to be a huge muscular giant with a Lemmy or Fu Manchu or other type of facial hair.

Odds are that any child named like that nowadays has zero Irish ancestry and I guarantee you that any woman who names her baby Aiden or Jayden or Brayden did so because she 1) thought it was cute or 2) did it because that's what all the other moms are doing.

Naming your progeny should have alot of thought and consideration; it should not be done because a certain name is popular. Think of all the other moms out their who have named their kids Aiden or Jayden and now think of how many other kids are going to be named the same thing. Can you imagine a class full of Aidens, Braydens or Jaydens? The attempt at individuality has failed and is being parroted by millions of others. I can also guarantee you that he will end up being another one of those shaggy, ass-hugger jeans wearing emo kids that listen to My Chemical Romance or Green Day who has zero self-respect for himself and constantly cries for the approval for others.

Naming your demon spawn should not be a fad, it should show thought.

What? What the hell does this mean? I already posted for you the meaning, pronunciation, origin & history of these names. Wherever your hate or disrespect for these people & their names comes from, it doesn't change the fact that both the people & the names have been around for a long, long time, & will be around for much more.

& I also don't understand why you think the reasons you would name your child are the same reasons others would name their child. Everyone has their own beliefs, points of view & reasons for doing things. I wouldn't profess to know why anyone else behaves as they do (thats actually why asked you about your opinions on these names). To hear you say it, it seems everyone (or at least those with Irish names) is an idiot, can't think for themselves, & no doubt "he will end up being another one of those shaggy, ass-hugger jeans wearing emo kids that listen to My Chemical Romance or Green Day who has zero self-respect for himself and constantly cries for the approval for others".

I was attempting to understand your point of view, but now that its becoming clearer, I think I'll leave it alone. I thought you were being funny, but didn't laugh. Maybe I just don't get the "Angry Postman"?

Anyway, best wishes & sorry for taking up all this space in your thread...oldawg

I wasn't bagging on the history or meanings of the names or anything like that. I was saying that most of the people who name their kids these names have no understanding of said history of the name. They just do it because they cannot think higher than "It sounds cute" and "It's a wonderful baby name" or they are trying to compete with other mothers who have named their kids something similar. You are naming a future adult, not a child.

If you are going to name someone, at least have it relevant to your family ancestry or name them after someone famous who accomplished something. What these airhead mothers are doing is equivalent to naming an African kid Xon Xiou or naming a Norwegian kid Ibeamaka. It just looks retarded without a context behind it. Seamus and Aiden are perfect names provided he has some strong Irish ancestry and turns out to be a giant ginger bastard otherwise it just looks goofy when your kid cannot live up to his name. That is like naming your kid Thor and then he ends up being a scrawny wuss.

Like I said, naming someone should be thoughtful and show deeper understanding instead of the "It's cute" mentality of most mothers today.

PS: I would name my kid a respectable Spanish name as part of my ancestry is Spanish/Azteca, or a respectable Anglo name. Something that has meaning like Andrew(For Andrew Jackson: One of our greatest presidents) or Manuel(For Manuel Mondragon: Inventor of the worlds first practical self-loading rifle.)
