Well Halloween is fast approaching. “Deadpool” is still looking like a possibility. Found a very realistic “cosplay” men’s costume in my size. For $259.00 USD. :(

My biggest crush from the 60's has to be Françoise Hardy. She was a popular singer, model, and actress of the time and, at least I think, one of the most beautiful women ever. :inlove::inlove::inlove::inlove::inlove:

Fortunately my interest in cars and auto racing led me to watch "Grand Prix" on TV back in the 90's, more than 30 years after it was released. Otherwise I might never have learned who she was. :(

Perhaps the best movie on racing ever made, it focused on the 1966 F1 season. Starring James Garner as the American driver, Yves Montand as the "aging" champion (he was probably in his 30's... :lol:), Antonio Sabato as the young Ferrari driver (and Francoise's "boyfriend"), and Brian Bedford as the British driver (Based on Jim Clark? :respect:). I have posted about the movie elsewhere on TLB.

James Garner was an accomplished driver and the only one of the cast who actually did his own driving. He drove the Pace Car at the Indy 500 several times during the 70's and 80's. Sadly he passed away in 2014. The version of "Grand Prix" I saw included live commentary by Garner.

Françoise transcended the era she was in. Her beauty and style would fit in very well in the 2000's unlike many of her contemporaries. One of my favorite pictures is the one of her standing on the back of the Ferrari. She looks like she could walk right into 2018 (and into my ZR-1... :innocent:). I have always thought she was about 50 years ahead of her time. :heart:

Seriously, I have always thought she was very beautiful and talented and extremely underrated as an artist. I know it’s popular to “bash” Miley but one has to look beyond the negative press and gossip (almost all of it lies) and the public “image” she sometimes portrays.

From every account I’ve ever read or interview I’ve seen, she comes across as a very kind and thoughtful individual. She does a lot of charity work and of course started her own “Happy Hippie” foundation. As a fan, I am well aware of her strong support for the LGBT community and her frank discussion of her own sexuality. :respect:

As I once posted, I have friends who actually got to meet her. They can tell you how sweet she was and that she was beyond gorgeous. It was in 2009 when Miley’s “Wonder World” tour stopped here. I’ll take the word of my friends over TMZ, OK!, Life & Style, Daily Mail, or any other “gossip” site any day.

(Fun fact: Did you know both Miley and Hayley live in Franklin, Tennessee? Hayley knew the Cyrus’s and was friends with Brandi, Miley’s older sister. :cool:)

For some reason, I always thought that picture of Miley sitting in the Mustang was from Tennessee. That is her studio in the background. It's actually in California. She and Liam as well as many others lost their home to the recent wildfires.

Heather Locklear. From approximately the same era as "my" Heather (Thomas), she had a starring role on "T.J. Hooker." A police show starring William Shatner. I'm too young to remember T.J. Hooker but she obviously had star quality. Totally gorgeous, she was many guy's "favorite" Heather. Moderators: she's in her early 20's here--she was born in 1961. Unfortunately she has been in the news recently for all the wrong reasons. Still only in her 50's I hope she turns her life around. :hug: :inlove:

Olivia Newton-John. Denise Austin. Not an "actress" but a real athlete and fitness instructor. She produced a series of exercise videos (and cable TV show) and was very popular in the 80's and 90's. She is still active today. I had a poster of her on the wall of my room. :inlove:

"Knots Landing" was probably the most popular one. She like many stars of the era, was into the “fitness” craze. Especially the style. I think it’s a super-hot look. Bright colors, tight sexy spandex, and of course “legwarmers.” :drool: The first time I remember seeing her was on the cover of one of my Dad's “Inside Sports.”

Her career began in the late 70’s with the lead role on “Tabitha.” Lisa was born in 1956. So she is at least 21 or 22 here. She played the grown daughter of Elizabeth Montgomery’s character from “Bewitched.” I have seen it in repeats and she is really cute. :heart:

She also was in a 1981 re-make of “Valley of The Dolls” playing the role of “Neely” (originally played by Patty Duke in 1967). I have never seen the 1981 version but have seen many pictures from it on the Internet. I’m mostly familiar with the original because of Sharon Tate. :inlove:

I have been very sick so haven't been doing much of anything. My doctor said it's the "flu that the shot didn't catch." :eek: Indianapolis schools and universities have been hit hard. A couple have cancelled classes. This is the first day I've started to feel better.

(I think originally the term "Diva" was intended to describe a female opera singer of extreme talent and popularity. I don't believe it was meant to be "derogatory" although I could be wrong. The term many people use in a negative manner is "prima donna." That has commonly been applied to anyone who acts entitled or in an otherwise negative manner. I've seen it used in sports quite frequently. "So what if he was the league MVP and just signed a contract for $300 million. He's still a prima donna." :()

Sissy Spacek in “Carrie” :inlove::inlove::inlove::inlove::inlove: This could be posted in several places. I’ve decided to post it here because of the fact she has been nominated six times for an Academy Award and won in 1981 for “Coal Miner’s Daughter.” Using our definition of “Diva” she is both gorgeous and talented so she most definitely belongs here.

The movie itself is very disturbing yet awesome. Her mother is totally messed up and physically abuses Carrie regularly. It is hard to watch. To say her mother has repressed sexual “issues” would be an understatement. She, not Carrie, is truly the evil one. I’m still not sure if the part at the end where she has an orgasm as she’s being impaled with knives is horrible--or funny. I used to giggle at this scene as a kid. Also for a movie made so long ago the kids are really nasty. I mean really… God, the poor girl! Their treatment of her goes far beyond ordinary “bullying.” Especially the elaborate planning, “setting her up,” and dumping blood on her at the prom. I don’t blame her for burning the goddamn school down.

Anyway, seeing the movie recently, I was struck by how beautiful Sissy was. Doing some “research” I found out she was born in 1949 which would make her 27 here. Does she remind you at all of anyone else that I have a "major crush" on? Never saw it before. Her younger daughter would be about the same age. Her oldest daughter is my age. And she can sing too. Many other “names you would know” come up in the cast, John Travolta, Nancy Allen :inlove: (should have had a major career) and P.J. Soles :inlove: who I know as “Riff” from “Rock and Roll High School.” I like all of them. Too bad they are such shits here. But so is just about everybody else in the school. Carrie, next time just take me along as your prom date. I would have beaten their asses. Besides I drive a lot cooler car. We’d have a great time, then when we got back to your place you could just tell your mom to fuck herself (…but why do I think she already does?) :lol:

Of particular note among the cast is Betty Buckley :inlove: as the gym teacher who befriends Carrie. She is in reality only two years older than Sissy Spacek. Probably best known for her role in “Cats” and the song “Memory” for which she won a Tony Award in 1983. I’ve decided she can be my “personal trainer” any time… :innocent:

Although I may lust after divas and all the other performers we enjoy, I try not to objectify them. Fantasy is one thing but everyone deserves respect and common decency as a human being- unless they have proven not worthy of such respect.
