A definite trend here....
I USED to be a system administrator. Currently I'm a Headend Engineer for a big cable TV company. I've been in the industry for about 25 years and worked at a number of jobs in it, including sys admin for the first cable company in Texas to have cable modems. I wish I could get back into the sys admin work. I love me some Linux! But too many guys in our field are waiting tables. |

Crud
Just heard from the people who were going to give me a really great job working with GLBT runaways. Seems that they can't quite get their funding together. Looks like I'm unemployed and looking for work. Problem is, I have a degree in Social Work and there is a surplus of Social Workers here :censored:. That and my focus is as a children's advocate, the laws in my state prohibit my working with minors.
Guess I get to feel the sting of looking for work as a transwoman whose documentation doesn't all quite match up. Because of my birth state's refusal to change the birth certificate, I'll have some explaining to do if the job does any sort of background check... *grumbles* |

Have you ever thought of getting a job as a consultant/ advisor? You are very good at it. If you cant "get" one from "people who were going to give me a really great job ", why not set up a private business? OR, You can always write in a column! Try magazines and ezines. Geeky, believe me, you have talent. |
