hmm.. well, I'll look into that - good idea. I'd just need something that paid a living wage which is hard to find writing on the Internet.

GRH 06-11-2008 08:01 AM

Sorry Bionca about that GLBT job not panning for you.

As for me, I'm a horticulturalist who is currently pursuing a Master's of Science in horticulture. But I've worked as a commercial grower and a professional landscaper before.

I work from an office in my home. Mainly I coordinate visits to here for patrons of the firm I work for and ditto plan my bosses' out-of-towners for business or fishing/hunting trips. I also do some stuff for an import firm.
I have a nice little undeserved quarterly income from a family trust as well. Much of that goes to charity (and the mall! haha!)

I am not a moneylender, and certainly not Shylock! Shakespeare didnt mean Shylock by the title 'The merchant of Venice', ila dear, he referred to Antonio, the romantic hero! (that would be me :p) I'm always ready to help my friends. Friendship is the most precious thing in my life.

Shaky and I were good friends around the 1590s. He was deeply inspired by the high romantic strain in my character. Around 1598, I went to Venice to spend some quality time with my fiance. Shaky intimated me in his letter that he has completed a play based on my character. He also included my friend and his wife Portia in his play! He changed my friend's name on my request to Bassanio to give him some privacy. He mixed up our attorney Balthasar with Portia and added drama to his work. Clever man! Anyway, I allowed him to retain the name of my business rival Shylock as it is! :p We even went to a hunting adventure, me and Shaky! The poor doe turned out to be a runaway from his majesty's park! I explained to the guards that we thought it was a wild animal, but they hardly listened! Anyway, my wise friend Balthasar cleared our names. And Shaky immortalized him later in gratitude. :p

I don't want to mislead you. I have taught a lot of different subjects in classrooms and I have been paid (quite well) to do so. Teaching is not my main occupation though. It is something that has been required of me in my former main occupation. I don't have a teaching degree, but I do have teaching qualifications. I was required to attend training sessions and pass various courses and tests (both written and practical) in order to get my qualifications.

I did enjoy teaching and I measured my success by the success of my students.

Lobsters are often called "bugs" but they aren't closely related to insects. They are both in a group called arthropods, which includes spiders, insects, shrimp, crabs and lobsters. They all have an exoskeleton, that is, they have no bones, their body is enclosed in a shell like hard skin.

Cockroaches are hard to catch because people have been chasing them for thousands of years. "Survival of the fittest"

By the way, if you are having trouble with cockroaches in your house, get some boric acid powder from the drugstore and sprinkle it around in the kitchen cabinets "away from food" where the roaches run around. The powder sticks to their bodies and they dehydrate.

I have been in "higher ed" for almost fifteen years if you count my time as a "TA" in grad school. Just got back from another day in the classroom--and other than being a little hoarse from talking too much... ;) I feel great. I honestly can't see myself ever doing anything else. There are not that many careers where you get to make a real difference in someone's life. It is nice when students remember you or come back to see you.

Each school year brings new challenges and rewards--it is like a cycle of growth and renewal. Similar to the seasons. Also I don't know of any other job where you have as much freedom to live as you like or express your opinions. For the most part my colleagues are very open-minded and tolerant of diverse views and lifestyles. :)

Some of the subjects that I've taught are leadership, management, telecommunications (radio theory, antennas, equipment), and lessons on how to teach/instruct. I've even assessed instructors on their ability to teach/instruct. There are other subjects that I've taught, but not as many times as what I've mentioned here.
