I love the Yankee fans over at espn.com stating that since the Yankees won this game they are now going to sweep. Ummmm, Sabathia is their ace, and he gave up 5 runs. Plus, they will face Cliff Lee(who has been lights-out so far in the post-season) twice! I still think that Texas can pull out a series victory, but they need their bullpen to wake the :censored: up!

Damn those :censored: Yankees. :frown:

Trouble is the Rangers could be 2-0 down in the series before Cliff Lee enters the fray in New York.

It's 5-0 Rangers again, this time after 3 innings. So, would Yogi Berra say "It's d?j? vu all over again" now, or wait until the Texas bullpens coughs up another loss?

(Not that I'm hoping for that. Go Texas! Beat my hated Yankees!)

Damn. Phillies lost Game 1 to the Giants by 4-3. :(

I wasn't expecting the Halladay-Lincecum match-up to yield 7 runs. I thought it'd be a lower scoring game.

You mean adopted postseason TEAMS (note the plural). I'm rooting for the Rangers, too.

The Yankees and the Phillies are the two teams I most despise in Major League Baseball. Sorry, my friends. I do like and respect at least two Phillies fans, though: Jen and dauls. Other than that, as I've noted before, even from the perspective of this Red Sox fan it seems to me that Phillies fans make Yankees fans look like Royals fans. (Think about that ...)

Smc, you are going to have to add me to the list of Phillies fans here(and that is due to the fact that Roy Halladay is on the team, and I would like him to win a World Series ring).

I am hopeful for a Texas/Philly final, with the Phillies winning. Of course, as long as the Yankees don't win, I'll be a happy camper.;)

Girardi showed his true colours as a coach tonight by totally mismanaging his bullpen. With a 2-0 deficit, he should have gone to Rivera in the top of the ninth rather than go with Robertson.

That being said, I am glad he is a bonehead as Texas got some much-needed insurance runs so that Lee didn't have to go out in the ninth(leaves him a tad fresher for his next game). Too bad about the eighth inning of game #1, otherwise Texas would have a 3-0 game lead.

Philly lost game #3 today by a 3-0 score. Their offense has been pretty cold in two of the three games.

Currently the Yankees and Texas are tied 1-1 in game #4. A Berkman homerun was taken back and he ended up striking out, and a Cano homerun in which the Texas outfielder was possibly fan-interfered with counted. I did not see the play so I do not know if it was a homerun or not.

Burnett is beginning to unravel, hence the game now being tied.

Oops! As I am typing this(too lazy to fix it) the Rangers scored another. It is now 2-1 Texas.

transjen 10-19-2010 08:54 PM

All i can say after watching game 4 is.. well perhaps it's best said by Homer so take it away Homer

The fan definitely interfered, but Nelson would not have made the catch ... although I'm sure he felt as if he was going to be a video highlight for the ages.

A fan also interfered with Gardner catching a fly ball in the stands down the left field line. Fortunately for the Yankees, it didn't turn out to be a catastrophe, as when other scumbags (oops, sorry, I shifted into the local dialect for "Yankees fans") have done so.

Damn. Bad loss. But Cain did pitch a good game. And yes, where has the Phillies offence gone?

For tomorrow's Game 4, I can't believe that Phillies' starter Joe Blanton is going into the game without a start since 24th Sept, and he hasn't pitched since a bit of relief on 3rd October. Well rested or rusty?

Thankfully both of those plays did not play a factor in the outcome of the game.

Texas took apart the Yankee bullpen again, scoring 5 runs off them in the process. And Burnett had that one bad pitch to Molina and that cost the Yankees the game. Good! I am also glad the Texas bullpen did NOT blow the game again(although with the 3 walks in the bottom of the 8th inning, I will admit that I was more than a little worried).

A 10-3 victory for Texas and now they are one victory away from going to their first ever World Series(and I think the Yankees will choke).

It looks like Mark Teixteira is done for the playoffs. He was 0 for the entire ALCS so they won't miss him on offense, but he is a pretty good fielding first baseman.

The moment I saw Oswalt head for the mound and Lidge stay behind, I knew two things: the Giants would win and Manuel had justed screwed Game 6, if there is a Game 6.

I know Brad Lidge still isn't pitching as well as he did in 2008, but what was Manuel's plan? Was he expecting extra innings and only prepared to send in Lidge once the Phillies' offense had scored some runs?

I assume asking what was in Manuel's head is a rhetorical question. I, for one, would not deign to understand any of the thinking of a man who would choose to become the manager or coach of any sports team in Philadelphia. I mean, dealing with the players is fine, but those fans! [Note to self: Insert standard Jen and dauls disclaimer here.] Really, why not just jump in front of a bus and get it over with?

No offence, but Manuel's been out-managed on more than one occasion this series. I personally would have gone with Halladay in game #4 rather than go the route Manuel did.

Also, in another piece of bad news, the Yankees won game #5 7-2. Thankfully the Rangers still have a 3-2 game lead. I think they will win game #6. This may be better for them than winning game #5 as they will now win at home!

shadows 10-21-2010 10:15 PM

HOORAY! :) Phillies win.

I see Manuel was happy to send Lidge to the mound tonight - 10 pitches, 7 strikes - nice way to pick up a save.

So who will start Game 6 for the Phillies? Cole Hamels (on three days rest) or Roy Oswalt (only two days rest)?

transjen 10-21-2010 10:53 PM

I think if it goes to seven games Roy Halladay will be the starting pitcher, at least for a few innings. The guy is a workhorse, and if Sabathia can do it for the Yankees, I see no reason why Halladay can't. Their playoff lives would be on the line after all.

I can't believe Doc threw about 110 pitches during his 6 innings on the mound in Game 5. It usually takes him longer to break the 100 pitch barrier.

If you understood anything about numerology, you would comprehend why Phillies fans raised tens of thousands of dollars at Pat's and Geno's over the past week to bribe MLB officials for a start time of 3-5-7 on 10-23-10. :innocent:
