Default We always hear that we should read but... the question is.. what to read?

I open this thread in an attemp to make a list of interesting books to read, for everyone on this forum.

We always hear everywhere that reading is the key to knowledge and truth so, why not to post some of the books that have changed our lifes nd share their titles with our fellow members?

Hi there.

The only things i have been reading in the last few years was web pages, you're thinking porn, well that too a bit, but this site for example and tech sites with cpu related info, and electronic components (ic's) specsheets, a few years i read f few sci fi books but they were kinda lame so i quit, but if there were some worthy of attention.

Also i used to go to fictionmania for t-girl fiction, some were quite nice, but not all, but then, like most everybody i do not like every kink on this earth, so the ones i liked some would not and vice-versa.

No opinion on eBooks as yet. Will try in due course, but currently I see them as a convenient medium, rather than sometyhing to collect and treasure. eBooks will have limitations too, as I am sure a lot of members have already found, especially the Bibliophiles among us.

* Sex in Human Loving by Eric Berne
( and for that matter, all the Transactional Analysis books esp. by Thomas Harris, James & Jongeward )
  • The Human Zoo by Desmond Morris
  • Jonathan Livingston Seagull by Bach
  • Guide to Philosophy by Joad
  • The Age of Complexity by Herbert Kohl
  • and on a lighter note : Wasp by Eric Frank Russell ( SF )
  • And so on so many . . .

# 1 Read the directions!
I am amazed by the percentage of people who can't be bothered to read the directions on items they get. So many people who fluck up on computers haven't even read their system manual, much less the manual on the operating system. Even more surprising are the people who don't even crack open their automobile manual. There are things in there that are good to know and may even save your life.
As for books to read for pleasure or just general edification, I suggest you just read whatever strikes your fancy. That is what I do. I read all kinds of books. But then I had a big advantage as a child. I was "deprived" of television as a child and since I grew up on a farm out in the boonies, I turned to reading. I even read encyclopedias when that was all there was left to read. From what I have seen, I have more books in my house than most people have read in a lifetime. And they are just a small fraction of those I have read. The invention of writing is the #1 accomplishment of mankind. The ability to transfer knowledge across space and time is the keystone to all that man has accomplished in the last 5 milleniums.

One book I would urge everyone to read is the Christian Bible. Particularly if you profess to be a Christian. The sad and rather pathetic fact is that most "Christians" haven't read their book and of the ones that have; few have really thought much about what it says.

Read the forum rules

just as it says so when new members join. Reading the forum rules will tell you everything that you need to know about this site and how to keep out of trouble with admin and mods. I am amazed at the number of who get a warning and then say "oops, I didn't know that was against the forum rules. The rules are accessible from every page within the site so not knowing the rules is not an acceptable excuse.
